Party size is too small. Should be 6 to be called Baldur gate.
Having 6 party members would have been ideal. Balance be damned everyone plays for the fun of it and 6 makes it more fun, the more the merrier, We know it is possible as there is a mod that does increase it to 8. However the mod breaks every update and is glitchy we need a real way to increase the party size to at least Baldur Gate size.

Almost all modules in D&D is focused around 4-6 players so 4 is fine. There is a Nexus mod that lets you change from four to six.

Now I wanna play Baldur gate:steamsad:
I fully understand how the game would be broken with 6 but 5 would probably have been perfect. tank, healer, dps is already 3 so you feel very limited.

personally I like the smaller party, for higher number you don't really have to make a mechanical choice in terms of class/role selection, you can throw everything in. With 4 you can and have to be selective and get some interesting variants.

In BG2 my tanking was made by my fighter with shield, and jaheiras off tanking animals O_o I didnt need to rely on just me, same with dps, edwin and minsc. but even more than so, it was the party banter with 6 that made it wacky.

you don't need healers in this game with basically infinite rests.

as for the topic at hand, I find 4 already quite a crowd to learn

I only played BG1&2 as a kid, my pc has acted weird (... gonna get a new one when the next big pc game I want is coming out) so gonna play it - bg3- on my ps5 next month, so havnt "tested it" but I feel- in most fantasy games, I want to cover my wizrad for dps, cleric for healing, and fighter/paladin for tanking, which means I only have 1 slot left and I wish I had 2 frankly. because im gonna have to limit myself to a druid or rogue most likely.

I main a cleric because I thought a healer would be good. However your cleric heals are so pathetic and weak, they're not worth casting in fight. You heal for 10, 11 if you're lucky, and then you take 20-30 damage. You would have been better off just meleeing. And then you'd be double better off if you had brought another fighter to begin with.

and outside of fights you can just rest.

4 Party members is fine, but for my second play-through i will be modding it so i can have all the companions with me at once. It feels weird in a game where your suppose to be traveling as a party that your leaving some behind at a makeshift camp, then making a new camp in the next area and BAM they are already their waiting... Seems more "REAL" if the whole party was together the whole time. Plus id love to hear all the banter between everyone.

All companions at once? That would be a party of up to 11 people, lol.

It will be an experiment for banter related lawls not for gameplay balance lol

For some reason my cleric hasn't even received an extra action.
Her heals are weak. Her utility is limited to spell slots. Her damage is even weaker and can only attack once.
I'm keeping her because I still expect some "oh ♥♥♥♥" moments, but man, never had a more useless character in a party.
Thoramyr Aug 8, 2023 @ 5:25pm
yeah I installed a mod to just have them all at once. I dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about balance.
