Darkvision IS NOT needed anymore
Really strange and I wonder if it's a bug or intended (but then why don't change the wording on Darkvision itself?): Darkvision does nothing anymore because there seems to be no penalty for not being able to see in the dark?!

I remember in EA when dark areas were a real pain in the buttocks for characters without a source of light/darkvision. If wonder if they thought that was too much? But why no communication?

Was just playing a Githyanki in the crypt area. Can confirm that the map is noticeably darker, when your character lacks Darkvision.

I was wondering why you can't really see with darkvision. You should be able to see as easy as with light, but no as a player you still require a light source.

Yeah, it's bizzare.

Somehow they deactivated the Darkvision perk altogether without saying anything?
a) no penalties for attacking in the dark without darkvision
b) no lightened area (view) when controlling a character with darkvision

What is going on? Especially (a) is really strange because they would need to manually deactivate the penalty it meaning it is intended - but why leave the description as is?

I repeat, that when playing the game as Githyanki (a race that doesn't have Dark Vision), I noticed some sections of the crypt had darker shadows than when I tried going through it with an Elf or a Half Orc.

Dark Vision does make the areas brighter, but since most of the playable races in the game have Dark Vision, you probably won't notice for a while.

people complained To much so it got changed.. I"m tired of people doing this endlessly and killing main parts of the game. Just because they didn't "like it"..

What about it affecting your hit chance?

Then they should leave it as an option

Hard to say. I was playing a Monk with 17 Dexterity at the time, so it's not like he was gonna miss all that often anyways.

Yeah I saw that video. Maybe to remove even more downsides of playing human? Overall I'm not sure that it was a fun concept to begin with. It wasn't visually represented enough either, with the Underdark being so well lit, I never got the impression that anyone wouldn't be able to see there.

It will give you disadvantage if you dont have darkvision. It is noticeable when using Laezel in the dark.

Are you sure tho because Spell/Shield (the YTber I linked) mentioned Lae'Zel specifically as an example of this system NOT working (as in she can see 100% clear in the dark).

I am very sure. I will note that any light source (torches, wall sconces, candles, burning fires) in range will negate it.

Omg I just noticed: His Lae'Zel uses fire on her greatsword - could that be it? :-D

I'm assuming they did this because if you didn't have darkvision or were in complete daylight it was miss simulator 2023. Personally I love it, it was a big turn off for me coming to this style of game because I didn't need to revovle around making every fight as bright as possible to win. Compared to EA, I'm landing the majority of my attacks in final release versus 10-20% in EA.

I doubt it- iirc, it didn't help in EA. But maybe they changed it?

I think the most likely reason that its not applying in the video is that there are literal lights on the boat.
