Bardic Music - How to unlock new songs
So I'm curious as to how you unlock new songs. I had thought it might be related to your bard level, but I acquired a hireling and hired him up to level 9 and he had fewer songs than my main who was only level 4 in the bard class. So now I'm left wondering how do you acquire more songs? and what are all of the songs that can be played?

I think you just need to play it in front of NPCs(probably need a successful performance check too), I just kinda noticed that more songs appeared after a while.

Some seem tied to instruments you pick up.

So far I've unlocked 5 on my protagonist, but I unlocked those a while back and none of my other characters have unlocked more than the starting 3. I thought it might be related to books so I had one character read all of the books and notes I'd collected, but that didn't unlock anything for him.

My bard had the new songs from the start. I did notice that you had to be playing on the steam servers and perhaps even through the Larian Launcher to make them appear. I haven't confirmed the Launcher requirement, it just always comes up for me unless I start offline. When I started the game offline, the songs were not showing up for me.

I think two of those songs are "special edition" rewards for pre-purchasing the game in early access. The two extra songs themselves are references to the Divinity: Original Sin series.

I need acquire more songs, dammit :/
What I have already tried ..
1) reading books (I actually found few lyrics, but .. after all it was useless)
2) playing in any occasion, interacting with anyone/anything what can play
3) I tried a lot of skills (performance+religion etc..) combination
4) Yes, I tried play the default song till the end..almost got it! :)
5) Even my best move did not help
I tried to get drunk +etc. to do this in a mysterious way without knowing how .. nothing!

(some instruments have unic songs, but they are tied with the instrument..so not what I finding)

I know using performance in battle gives you a stronger bardic inspiration die

Yeah I think what I experienced was a bug with the dlc songs not unlocking when you equipped a new instrument until you played it a few times. Probably got fixed in one of the patches.

I also wondered this. I had a bard from level 3 to level 10 and never learned a new song. And I played everywhere I could....got to about 50 coin earned in the achievements.
