It is a step in the right direction and not a small one either. Larian knew this inclusion would mean they would get a lot of toxic garbage thrown their way from conservative types. Knew that might have a minor impact on sales, and did it anyway because it was the right thing to do. So maybe instead of being angry at Larian that it wasn't the perfect all in one package of inclusion, we thank them for what they have done, and politely explain ways to make it even better in the future.
Lastly, a character's face does not need to look perfectly like the person playing in order to be good representation. It is about showing that that type of person is real and valid, in the setting of the game and out of it.
