They do follow the typical bonuses at caster level 5 and etc where applicable, like eldritch blast getting an additional bolt + casting as higher levels
5e yea, it will get stronger but do not expect BG1&2 level of strong.
Cantrips: they normally gain power at 5, 11, 17.
Levelled spells: Using a higher spell slot for a spell.
Say for example Magic Missile is a lvl 1 spell, dealing 1d4+1 damage with each missile, but for every spell slot level above the first it gains an additional missile. 3 at spell slotlevel 1, 4 at spell slot level 2, 5 at spell slot level 3 etc...
Not all spells scale well though.
Bless gains one additional target per spell level slot.
Read description of spells, I think default 'T' when your mouse is over a spell.
Compared to Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 or even Pathfinder more recently which felt like they were taken straight from the core rulebook, BG3 feels so dumbed down at times when it comes to inspecting stuff like this.
The spell descriptions are awful and devoid of so much important information
Your caster stat does add bonus damage. But it's not like that's going to scale dramatically.
