PSA: For anyone getting stuck or confused in character creation

You might be in character creation and wondering when you are creating a custom character and you switch between male and female options, why the faces just stay as male faces.

It's not a bug, so don't sit there thinking something is wrong with the game, in fact something is wrong with you.

As it turns out, they use male and female to designate your "identity", also known as your personality, and not to designate your actual sex like the rest of the human race did for the past 5-7 million years.

If you want to actually switch between male and female characters in character creation, you'll have to switch to a different "body type". STUPID ME.

I most certainly do, that's what the mouse icon means next to my name and yours.

the real problem is that all the bodys are very gender neutral in the first place, i want to be a fat guy with biker quads but i guess my fantasy isnt allowed

Yeah, the extremely limited possibilities for how your characters physical body looks like is a bit disappointing. If there were options like in Kenshi where you could use a slider for how "buff" you were, a slider for how long your legs are and another for your torso (IIRC), sliders for how big your hands are, slider for how big your feet are.

The body types are very generic. It's thinner/smaller and bigger, in male and female variant. It's a bit boring.

There is a world beyond Steam. Game is released on GOG as well. (that's were I buy my games - I only come here as the discussion boards are more active)

Yep. Character customization is boring, and pretty dull. Apparently there was a mod that made it more interesting in EA, but it seems we'll have to wait for it to update, before using it. Even then, I'm sure someone will release a mod for more detailed customization, which is something I'll be impatiently and eagerly awaiting for.

I was stuck at the character creation screen for hours trying to figure it out and I finally came across this post, lucky me! Thank you for teaching us about the important difference between gender and sex without including any bias or disdain of other's beliefs!

Beliefs? You speak of it like it's a religion and not the science it should be based on.
