No Lightning Bolt?
According to this little page there is no lightning bolt in the full game.

If it's real I don't get it. Why choose Storm Sorcery to add to the game and then have even less lightning spells in the game?
How many are there? 2 and a cantrip?

I was really looking forward to lightning bolt.

There is chain lighting and lightning storm..

Does that list look complete to you? You think we’re getting 1 4th level spell?

Well Chain lightning is a level 6 spell and if you wanted to multiclass that would be out of your reach. Do you mean call Lightning? That is a druid spell as far as I know.

They said we get 600 spells. Also, for storm sorcerer, thunder damage seems to be also improved

You’ll have to level your caster up to level 5. It’ll be there.

You are right of course.
I just hoped someone had some information on that. Because I'm not sure if I want to play the build I wanted to play if there is such a lack of lightning spells.

On the other hand there is Glyph of Warding which I overlooked.

"There are over 200 spells at launch, with over 600 confirmed by Larian to be added to the game overall."

This page show's only 150 spells, so it is save to say that they do did not cover all the spells in this list.

I would bet 10:1 odds on lightning bolt being in. Storm Sorcerer exists, and this is its most iconic spell before the very endgame.

That list is incomplete. If they somehow remove lightning bolt, I would be surprised. It wouldn't make any sense to just remove it randomly. Besides, it won't be a big deal even if that was the case since I like playing with mods, and you can bet your ass that mod creators will add it back if it's removed.

Isn’t Lightning Bolt just the electrical version of Fire Ball? Wide AOE lightning damage?

Lightning Bolt is coming in full release. They said they're adding 600 new spells and abilities, and they confirmed a long time ago that everything from PHB will be included in the game.

There is a crap ton of spells between levels 1-6, far more than they could fit on a simple news article. So of course there's going to be most of them that weren't listed with the new additions.

No, Lightning bolt is a ray that pierces through its targets. Good for hitting enemies that are lined up, but less effective if they're scattered about.

Did the math a while back, but if they included all the spells from the player's handbook, plus all the actions in EA, your still well short of 600. That's including 7, 8, and 9th level spells which are not in the game.

But also potentially easier to use without murdering your party. Trade offs.

Fireball is a sphere explosion, Lightning bolt is a long narrow line.

They fill a similar purpose, but sometimes you want one vs the other, and for example if you fight fire elementals immune to fire etc.
