Afterwards, I simply had to reinstall Baldur's Gate 2 again, and all my old cloud data got a fresh wipe.
I cannot see how BG2 is connected to Larian or BG3 these days...
The original EA version created a profile MYUSERNAME_EA.
Every time my cloud saves are synced, the MYUSERNAME_EA profile and its saves are redownloaded by Steam, they are forever in the cloud and since you cannot delete directly from the cloud, I have no say over this.
I can go as far as making it so Steam knows the saves are Out Of Sync but it won't ask me to overwrite the cloud saves with local saves, it just downloads the profile again.
Yikes. You clearly did not read what I wrote then. Well, suit yourself.
I am pretty sure that is a question which might trigger threadstarter. You are absolutely right, though. The thing is: its still some space occupied on your harddisk which you seemingly cannot remove. And almost 2GB can be considered significant.
But then again, I have seen worse where one player had 8GB occupied by such bad save game mechanism. You would not know about it if you are not picky. Most players are not.
Once again, I just deleted my BG3 and Larian folders completely, and that seems to have resolved the issue of cloud data for me.
I had been having that glitch where it said the game detected mismatched data, and even after doing a simple uninstall and reinstall three times, the problem still persisted.
But after completely deleting the files off my computer, the mismatched data was finally wiped and the problem got fixed.
I'm sorry, I read everything you wrote, and I did try to follow your guide for Age of Wonders 4 and it did not work for me.
As I said, I cannot force a conflict, the saves are under a profile name that the game does not use anymore. Cannot overwrite the cloud saves because they are totally separate, not under the Public profile.
I do not know how to make this any clearer:
There is an old, unsupported profile.
It has taken up 1.6GB TWICE, actually, once in the Steam Cloud cache folder and another in the Larian Studios AppData folders.
I read what you said, but your method does not work here.
Which folders are these?
\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USERID\1086940\remote
Not the PlayerProfiles, I mean you have to delete the ENTIRE Larian Studios folder. You'll get it back when you reinstall the game, as Steam will create a new one for you, but it won't have any of the old data saved into it.
Also, don't forget to wipe your Recycle Bin, just to be extra safe.
I do not know what the user data stuff is. I'm pretty sure I didn't touch any of that, so I would not suggest messing with it.
Since the game is currently not on my computer right now, I don't know the exact location of where to find the files. But the AppData Local seems to be right. Delete the Larian Studios folder there, then run a file search on your computer for anything labeled as either Baldur's Gate 3, or Larian Studios and delete those folders as well.
Ahh ok, no, that won't solve this.
"couldn't care less". Grammar 101. (if you "could care less" then obviously you care even a tiny amount, simple logic)
Thanks, but no, I'm trying to get rid of my cloud saves from the very first Early Access release.
