Good point but I will stand with "consider the massive difference between writing for the player character vs. the companions" I would say its good to stay skeptical as its the right shot at remaining fair.
As a player there would be difficulties but that seems to be equal among the rest of the cast the player can interact with and the various races available to chose from currently. And if they added a dwarf/halfing/gnome...goblin? companion as a romance option it would be just as different and strange/outlandish as any of the current examples given in the party already. You are right in that the quest would be as difficult as a githyanki or vampire spawn but given the same time and writing it could be compelling just the same, as well as adding more options for those looking for them in their party compositions.
Again I am sold on this idea and dare any developer who is interested in selling their fantasy rpg for having choices to just jump that shark and get it over with. Plus sex with a dwarf should be instant death anyway, it's like a poet once said
"It's like being hit by a truck!"
I would hope other players of fantasy rpgs would enjoy the "fantasy" part and engage in more outlandish and strange ideas to play off of their characters and find new ways to engage a genre that has been a bit samey for a while. DOS:1&2 I thought were a nice step outside of some of the boundaries for what is often seen in games and am hoping BG:3 has that same spice....also like four elves seriously that bothers the ♥♥♥♥ out of me >_<
The obsession with making the bearded grumpy stereotype is a bit too strong in this case. I feel like we can finally break that one and do it differnetly.
Did you just assume the dwarf's gender!?
When Tolkien was describing his female dwarves, he said that they were virtually identical to their male counterparts in terms of looks, voice and mannerisms. The only way to tell the two sexes apart was to strip them naked.
For all you know, some of those dwarf companions may have actually been women!
Second off, Tolkien didn't invent Dwarves, and even if he truly did, his one definition regardless of if you are speaking in jest or not isn't the only way to define something.
Third off, try being less juvenile in your replies to people and someone may actually take you seriously, but then I have you muted so I'm free not to see your posts if I so wish, something I'll be going back to. Good night.
Found the buzzkill.
It was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke, dude. I know those are extremely rare to come across in this day an age, but they still exist.
