That's why it's a bananas MC with gloomstalker, extra attack T1 and autocrits.
Yes, the auto crits are good, but that's still your only ability you get until 13, which again is not available in BG3.
Once you hit level 3 as an Asssassin, that's it. You've peaked as far as your class abilities are concerned.
What source are you looking at? Infiltration expertise is level 9, Impostor is level 13. I'm assuming Larian will make alternatives to these because I don't know how they would implement them as written.
Also, that's it for *subclass* abilities, not class abilities. Rogue still gives a ton of good stuff. More sneak attack dice, Uncanny Dodge, Evasion...
Sneak attack dice keeps advancing damage every 2nd lvl level.
Uncanny Dodge, Cunning Action, Evasion.....
The Rogue subclasses are less varied than the other classes.
Any Larianisms are to be seen, and I'm curious.
Oh, I missed the part about the false identity being level 9. Still, it seems like a useless ability. Unless it functions as a constant Disguise Self effect. Which only Drow and presumably Duergar will ever need to use.

if i were a gamblin man.
so, unearthed arcana has been trying to do psychic subclasses for years. and i mean years. but it always got scrapped. overtime they have managed to get some psychic themed subclasses out there, particularly after scrapping the mystic class altogether before it was ever released.
So if I were a bettin man. i'd imagine the powers from the tadpoles are probably not entirely unique, but rather, a sort of implementation of subclass features that never made it out of UA, or, maybe a little of both.
but i cant imagine the system is going to be that deep if they expect us to collect tadpoles and willingly put them in our heads when the entire plot of the game is "remove them from your head". doesnt make any sense.
Your sword is gonna have to clear up it's schedule then, because the devs already confirmed years ago that once you get to Baldur's Gate, there will be times when Drow are attacked on sight just because of their race.
I love that Larian decided to respect the lore and implement the fantasy racism into the game, instead of hand waving it off so that players don't feel discriminated against. <3
Did it go away? They make ttrpg games based on 3.5 still. Pretty big deal ones. You got options.
