You'll be fine.

you attack grouped up enimies you get free advatage from the gloves and then you just run away due to Mobile feat. hide behind a wall and wait for them to come at you again.
you just do this over and over and nothing can kill you cos you are faster than everyone.
or the +2 dex robe is cool as well...works well with Unarmored Defense...
Then do that. Stick to it.
It's not hard if you have a balanced party and you're confident.
Tank, Damage-Dealer, Healer, Ranged Unit.
The last Larian game that I played people were restarting so often that they couldn't finish the game.
"This class sucks." = Restart
"I'm bored." = Restart
"I screwed up. Shouldn't have done that." = Restart
"They patched the game?" = Restart
Hahah, I can so feel that, yes. But it is that so many games I never finish, because I start to fear I did something wrong and it will end up horrible.
But then nowadays I am scarred by my ending of Witcher 3. I did as best as I thought I could do, and my ending was Geralt being all alone basically committing suicide. So after that I began to doubt my ability to really make good decisions in RPGs, lol. XD
Monk weapon basically means any weapon you are proficient with. If you use a dip into another class or get a weapon proficiency from your race/background I believe those weps will work with unarmed bonuses.
