With so many legendary items are Monk and Barb even worth it?
I mean, a Barb can at least wear a legendary weapon. Monk? RP wise one of my fav classes, but in every D&D based game I was kinda the loser, with everyone in the company having BLING weapons and armor on top of their new level power, and the Monk seemed sorta behind.

And facts some of you have about BG3 to this? I am still conflicted, and when I begin at release I don't want to restart 4 times, I want to go in and then stick to it. I am still more fond of "exotic" classes, but I am very hesitant to play with great game with a class that will always stare at the 1000s of BLING items, none of which he can use.

You are overthinking it. You'll be fine.

No possessions?

You can't wear armor, sure, but you can still use rings, belts, cloaks, some weapons- not to mention Larian specifically mentioned giving monks some homebrew tweaks to help them keep pace with other classes.

You'll be fine.

Monk can still use monk weapons, and there are robes which don't count as armor, just clothing, that have fun effects. I'm sure there is plenty here for our punchy friends.

There are items for Bard, Barb that give bonuses to the specific class. I'm sure they will have added monk specific items as well. Some bracers, quarterstaff, robes ect.

They already have magical clothes that works with armor spell. And will for sure work with monk and barbarian base armor

The only legendary weapon a barbarian needs is beating a m-fer with another m-fer!

In one dev interview, he specifically cites the fighter as having the more broad spectrum of being able to equip build-altering items

apparently there are only 9 legendary items and i reckon one will be for monks not to mention you can always just muti or use feats and use everything...

example of a monk items you can see here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMB2se2XpJ0

you attack grouped up enimies you get free advatage from the gloves and then you just run away due to Mobile feat. hide behind a wall and wait for them to come at you again.
you just do this over and over and nothing can kill you cos you are faster than everyone.

or the +2 dex robe is cool as well...works well with Unarmored Defense...

There are clothings that give +2 in Dex up to a maximum of 20. Which is a great option for monks. I'm sure there will be other items aswell.

Then do that. Stick to it.

It's not hard if you have a balanced party and you're confident.

Tank, Damage-Dealer, Healer, Ranged Unit.

The last Larian game that I played people were restarting so often that they couldn't finish the game.

"This class sucks." = Restart

"I'm bored." = Restart

"I screwed up. Shouldn't have done that." = Restart

"They patched the game?" = Restart

Hahah, I can so feel that, yes. But it is that so many games I never finish, because I start to fear I did something wrong and it will end up horrible.

But then nowadays I am scarred by my ending of Witcher 3. I did as best as I thought I could do, and my ending was Geralt being all alone basically committing suicide. So after that I began to doubt my ability to really make good decisions in RPGs, lol. XD

I feel like over 50% of the magic items you find are related to monks. Especially in act 3 over half of the gauntlets grant unarmed damage

Monk weapon basically means any weapon you are proficient with. If you use a dip into another class or get a weapon proficiency from your race/background I believe those weps will work with unarmed bonuses.

Gota love these answers to questions that someone asked 4 months ago. I am sure the OP is still around and still care about your opinions on the matter …
