SSD requirement
is an SSD really required, because the steam page change to 150gb needed and i dont think i can clean up that much space on my current SSD

Steam let’s you move games around to a different drive. I installed BG3 on my SSD, but it should be easy to move a few things to a HDD using Steam.

ill try it on my hard drive and if the load times are really unbearably bad ill have to get a bigger SSD or something thanks

No, "Minimum Specs" are not actually the minimum specs required to run a game. They're the minimum specs the devs think you'll need to run the game with decent quality of life, which is obviously very subjective.

If you want 10 minute load times (every time you start the game or die), then you're free to use an HDD; the devs just heavily discourage it because that sounds miserable.

150GB?.. hope it's not that big or i'm going to have to wait till next year to play it when I get my PC upgraded.

No way I can free up that much space without having to uninstall around 30+ games.. or just ARK lmao
But I can't be doing that.

Expect it still works on a decent HDD, but you'll sometimes take a minute or two to load in scene textures fully (does that occasionally on my system with the EA). Hope so anyway, otherwise I'll need to drop Cyberpunk 2077 off my SSD to make room and that really doesn't run on HDDs properly.

150gb? ♥♥♥♥ me, that's the reason I stay away from playing ARK.
They should seriously consider reducing quality in some areas that are less dependant on it as to lower it as much as possible. 150gb on an SSD is asking a lot.

If they have 4k res textures by default they should make those 2k then add an optional DLC which switches it to 4k when installed and activated.

i feel that, ive been playing diablo 4 on mine im up to 146gb of free space now its looking like i might be able to install it there after all xd

I think the 150 GB thing is outdated now. When I reinstalled my game, it said I only needed 79 gb free. They just haven't updated the store page.

Sure, it would be asking a lot if it was 2015, but SSDs are dirt cheap these days. Even consoles and entry-grade laptops use them; there's really no excuse for someone with a legitimate gaming setup to not have plenty of SSD space in 2023.

That's so 2018...:P

the 150gb are most likely for the full version, not the ea version.

Perhaps originally, but didn't they say they found a way to compress the game down to smaller file sizes a few major patches ago?

Sure, but the 79gb you downloaded is still not the full version, only the ea version, so that will grow ;)
