Why the Game Needs a Day / Night Cycle
Simply put... Astarion. He's a vampire spawn, who is only capable of going out in daylight because of the modified tadpole in his head.

IF he decides to remove it at a later point in the story, it stands to reason that protection would dissipate, and he'd once again be vulnerable to the sun.

Thus, if the exploration map is constantly sunny all the time, that's going to make it very, very difficult for a cured Astarion to get around!

That's the thing though, he doesn't want to remove the parasite. He wants full control over the thing. Granted, he could change his mind, but he might want to also cure his vampirism on the same time. We don't really know how his story is gonna go, so I'm just making guesses here.

Nothing short of a Wish spell can cure his vampirism at this point.

Also, you forget that Origin characters can be used as the main character. So if the player wants to remove the tadpole, they can still do so.

I don't care about the vampire character. However, I agree that the game needs a meaningful day/night cycle.

Druidic Bear essence is more powerful than sunscreen :steamhappy:
Maybe there will be no way to remove the tadpole?
Maybe if the tadpole is removed the already acquired powers stay?
There are many solutions to that dilemma.
As an argument for a day/night cycle, this is a week one.

Considering how much time we spend in clammy dungeons and dank castles, Astarion can always find a home there.

It's strange that they have a night cycle at camp, but nowhere else.

Some characters see well at night, while others have light spells that they can cast. It could work similar to Solasta's mechanics when dealing with darkness, but not as detailed.

Indoors, there are candles and torches everywhere. Outdoors, towns are easy to light up.

But in the wilds you would need light. Fighting with a torch in one hand isn't possible for a lot of characters. You would have to cast lights or rely on characters with dark vision.

In future games I'm sure Larian will do it.

i disagree it doesnt need a night or day cycle besides whatever they already have

I believe they stated in the last PFH that removing the tadpole would have been a possible option at a later point in the game, but you can also choose to keep the tadpole and the powers it grants you.

Thus indicating that removing the tadpole would likewise remove the benefits, such as walking in the sun, or entering homes without an invitation.

Fair enough. Still, maybe whatever he gained from the tadpole stays with him? Such as being able to walk in sunlight. If not, I guess he just have to resort to a life in the underdark.
