Do you mean to insinuate that a devil worshiper would not lie / twist the facts to portray themselves in a more sympathetic light?
Because if so, I would like to kindly direct your attention to the 'Paladins of Tyr' that have set up at the toll bridge.
Their quarry is actually a soldier of the blood war who went AWOL by hitching a ride on the nautiloid, and they've been sent to bring her back. They spin you some story about how she was leading the Gnolls in their attack, and how she personally slaughtered an entire family, including a pregnant mother.
But when you actually find her, she claims that their story is BS, and the so called paladins are actually worshipers of Zariel. And considering the tiefling is supposed to be one of the good companions we'll be getting after full release, we can safely assume she's telling the truth here.
-------------------
I'm willing to acknowledge that Wyll and the goblins have some personal beef with each other. But I am not going to believe everything that Wyll says at face value. The sheer fact that he's included in the bunch of 'evil' companions that Larian stated they wanted us to try out is enough to warrant suspicion when dealing with him; Gale as well.
They said that and yet everything goes against that both in the stories and the datamining. All of this is easily searchable btw. I'd love to see the statement Larian made so I can see if they truly said 'evil' or just insinuated so. The only characters that truly have more of an evil inclination are Astarion and Lae'zel and Lae'zel is even questionably more neutral than evil she doesn't actively move to do things that are morally questionable she just doesn't care either way. It's simply whatever allows her to see her goals through. Astarion choices and discussions do lean toward evil however.
Gale? No his dialogue completely suggests otherwise an in fact you increase your relationship with him by performing good acts. Same with Wyll. Shadowheart we know from other information is really just brainwashed at this point but will have that lifted later to give her memories that insinuate she's actually quite the good girl.
All this proves to me really is that you are a person that sees things at face value rather than looking at all of the pieces between how they talk, the things they say, the acts Tav performs that influences them, the clues we are given, etc.
Nah what I'm saying is that what you just pointed out is a situation in which the facts lead you to a certain outcome. But you are able to do that for Zariel simply because outside resources suggested she is a good companion. But you aren't able to do the same thing for Wyll or even Gale when the same clues, situations, conversation, and even mechanics around improving your relationship with them after doing good acts, doesn't seem to get you to a similar conclusion.
Good acts would not influence an Evil aligned character positively. There's no way to spin that being that the characters don't have 4th wall insight into your ability to see their reactions which would mean their reactions have to be genuine.
I agree that this would be the solution around how we would perceive Wyll. If there is, in fact, dialogue around him killing his father and reasons behind that, that would lead us to believe there was malice or like intent then that would of course change the narrative. But if this does exist then either there is a lie between what he says in one set of dialogue options vs. another....or..... there is a discrepancy between patches that changed his backstory. Because it definitely showed up in my most recent play throughs that he admired his father and that dialogue is documented in youtube as well.
Looking at the Wyll Youtube stuff, and even his apparently 'new' and more 'expanded' conversation with Fezzerk, there is way more to it now than there was before, even more emotional narrative bits, hell even the narrator is using emotional voice inflection for it. Apparently, now he even goes into whom Mizora is. Well, guess I need to do another run then, as there is a lot more to this than there ever was before.
I'm glad you recognize Gale for what he really is... The big bad wolf (Judas character.) 🐺 https://youtu.be/Xki1tsXZFTA
Is it going to be a "Viconia" wooing him again?
I think I know why some people hate Wyll,, & it starts with the "R" word. 🤐
Why yes, it will be and a new story, since there is A LOT that has changed since I played.
Additionally, why would I change her name?
What 'R' word is that?
Think of it this way. If Wyll and Gale are essentially the same, which they are when you break down the fundamentals of their stories, and if you go down a particular path with Gale then they are even the same down to the whole working with a demon thing... Yet considering Wyll still gets more hate then what do you think the reason would be?
This time will you keep Laezel alive,, or "accidently" bump her off the ship again? lol.
Didn't say you should,, I actually prefer it that way. 😼
^ Can you edit the post a bit,, so I can make it to my top answer?? lol. I don't wanna do it yet,, since there's too many quotes (words) on it!
For what it is worth, Wyll is the least objectionable of the 3 initial male companions in my mind. Gale is absolutely the worst.
Yeah yeah yeah, some punk is going to say I hate on the guys all the time. Actually I have not said anything about them lately.
I agree that Gale's story and Wyll's story are perhaps most similar of the companions so far, but it is the personality that gets hatred on all 3 of the male companions.
Add to that of course the flamboyant personality of Astarion, the ridiculous "Blade of Frontiers" of Wyll, and the know it all magic item eating, arrogance and conceit of Gale... you really do not have to look for much more about them to hate!
If Patch 9 finally drops...
I will do the story. Until then, I await.
Fixed the original
None of that applies to what I was alluding too,, so it feels totally unnecessary Corridian.
Promise me that you won't post it in our group,, or in the off-topic section!
Muchas gracias Señor. 🤠👍
Sorry for being so picky,, but can you fix it to look more like this.. 🥺👇
