Lack of god selection
Ive not played since druid release but was wondering if they have or plan to introduce more god choices as it seems limited. What is your choice of missing god? mine is umberlee the ♥♥♥♥♥ queen. Remember the temple from bg 1

Does the god selection even matter as far as stats and spells or is it just for flavor?

There are a couple of things that shouldn't affect gameplay that I would like to see on our character sheets. Like deity selection and alignment. Maybe a textbox we can fill out would be a compromise?

Id be nice if everyone could select a god, or Green Faith, instead of just Clerics.

My favourite is Shiallia, which is missing in BG3.

Meh, they are for the most classified in "Good" or "Bad" for dialogues
Wich is far less fun with exceptions if my memories are correct

Also, could be cool to choose a god without being a priest for fluff material

I would choose Zeus if it would grant me lightening spells.

Knowing what happens to all atheists in D&D after death, pretty much every sensible person must have a god to worship.
Personally i would love to see Eilistraee, Raven Queen and Mielikki as a diety choice.

The Raven Queen is the only one Not in BG3 as a choice if you class as cleric.

If the point is that a non-cleric can't choose a god, I agree, that seems like something it would be easy to allow, add the same dialogs in most cases that you'd have for the cleric.

I played a drow in game and got an Ellistraee dialog and a Lolth dialog to choose from, because I wasn't a cleric and didn't choose a religion.

Yeah, i have not checked on clerics since EA release. So i do not really remmber what gods are already available as a choice. Clerics are just not my cup of tea.

I would prefer if the afterlife was based off of your moral actions and so forth. As far as being atheist, that was possible in other games (EQ1 comes to mind) and it was fine. It just meant that for some reason you chose not to follow a deity.

Your morality should still get you into one afterlife or another, rather than the worship of a deity. At least that's my opinion, with regards to how D&D works anyways.

Sorry, no soul gets a free ride to reincarnation here. You already have a wide range of gods and demigods to follow, depending on your views and interests.
And most of them ask only loosely following some tenets, that are already mostly similar to your own morality, and doing simple rituals in return. There are already Clerics for anything more complex and deep.
And unlike, well reality, gods do listen to your prayers, can grant you boons, give you guidance and help you in many different ways. Good deal if you ask me.

My thought is that the 'gods' aren't as important as the energy of the planes. But that's my take on it. I think it makes it more interesting once the players reach said planes. The Wall of Faith takes the player agency out of the equation, which is why I don't like it.
