Is there any reason to cripple Us?
Even when i'ved killed the Demons and the Mindslayer in the control room turns on me, Us keeps fighting on my side. At least the last Us survived the demons that long.

And if memory serves the last time i actually crippled Us, it didn't even noticeably impact it's stats.

Probably an unfinished feature or encounter, as I also didn't notice anything different about crippled and non-crippled Us.

if you attack the IDs in the room fall of pods and the one near the cannons it should turn on you, but i havent taken us in a very long time so it could have changed.

Roleplay.
There's a short duration debuff where his health is reduced after you've crippled it.
Iirc it's 12 health.

If you're inquisitive but cautious, why would you want to converse or tag along with a fully capable intellect devourer? It's literally a brain with legs that can talk to you.

Crippling it to make sure there's no sudden movements is the logical move to gather information; especially when you consider the lack of your combat abilities.

Or you fail the roll and it attacks you. Most of the time it's not hard hitting enough to kill you, but it can easier than the imps.
Since it recognizes you as someone who has a tadpole it thinks you are under control since everyone else on the ship is like that, to the point that if you heal the people prone on the top of the ship they jump off the ship to kill themselves.
In that situation, why do you need to take the risk of failing a dex roll when you can just play sly and make it think you are on the mindflayers side until you get out of the tutorial? No fight with it and you get an extra character to attack hell denizens with for the rest of the ship.

If it is not crippled it will atack you if you try to harm other thralls, intellect devourers or the mindflayer on the deck. And i say KILL THEM ALL FOR THE SWEET EXP using the damn thing.
It is also a nice bait when you need to make a run for controls, after you finished off both gambion commander and mindflayr, and hinder 2 devils that rush in to the deck after some turns.

The thralls are 1exp now, I think. The devils also seem to have gotten way harder….

You think Larian actually looks at this sludgefest?

Hey, 1 EXP is still 1 EXP. They also have money sometimes. And hatchets. There is never enough hatchets if you are a barbarian.
What i usually do is rush to the devil and mindflayer fight, killing all the small fries on the move, and carefully kill both big guys. Living one alive usually means lot of trouble, so need to be carefull with spreading your atacks. Then i leave Us behind to fight devil reinforcements, and run towards the controls. Also not to forget grabbing the flaming sword.

This is not true at all, I never ever cripple Us but i do kill everything on the ship and Us always remains friendly.

I personally think it's better to either kill Us outright, or don't cripple it at all. The in-between option doesn't appeal to me.
No?
I am still suprised people dont just kill it.
I mean it is an intelect devourer.
Those are kill on sight enemies.

Recruiting Us and leaving it next to the regen pod in the room where you rescue Shadowheart is the easiest, fastest, and safest way to defeat all the cambions and the mind flayer on the bridge.

You monster! Listen to him!

Her?

They?

Whatever! Just listen to Us! It has the voice of an angel! Sweet babylike angel! That wants to nibble on your skull a bit.

Angelically!

.....For some reason I was under the impression they just spawned into the room rather than earlier in the ship. That's a hell of an observation I've missed. Going to have to test that now. Useful info, thank you.

It steals people's body.
It is a mindflayer minnion.
You are saving an enemy.

Also thanks for making me laugh.
