Patch 6 and save files

Ok lemme get this straight...our saves that were made prior to upgrading to patch 6 will no longer be playable post patch 6? what in the freaking frak is dat about? why would anyone want that??? So whenever there's a new patch you have to start over ?? wtfrak?!!??

No one wants it. it's part of game development. EA means unfinished. which means with each major patch, very large changes to code and the core of the game are made. Thus, saves become unplayable (unless you want to corrupt the save or the game itself).

They announced this a looooong time ago and mention it prior to, and at the drop of, every new major patch. Really should have done more research into this game before buying if this is somehow new to you, no offense.

Also, when you want to continue a save, the previous version is on the bete branch. But I believe you can't load on the new patch and then still use the save file on the beta.

You can continue your current save by switching to the "beta" version associated with your current game version however every major update requires you to start a new game. There are significant changes with each major update so this is to be expected.

Well, I guess be prepared for it in the future. As dulany67 said, you can go back to older versions to play the old save files if you are that attached. Just keep in mind you can't access any of the new content of the recent patch until you upgrade. Also, you will eventually permanently lose your saves. Once full release drops all old saves will likely no longer be use able.

yknow there shld be an option where can you just start any new game from the same profile you made. I put so much effort on customizing my object of desire in the character creation section.

I bought this game as soon as it was available, played a few hours then it was time for the new patch.
I do not remember if it was the first or second one when they announced that it would not be compatible with ours saved files.
After that I just stopped, since I understood how it was going to end and I did not want to re-do the same things everytime a big patch would come out.
I'll just play the game later this year, maybe.

Might be an option later down the line. I have no idea if this is possible with this game or it's current build, but I know other games allow you to transfer/edit character data files if no UI exists in-game. Perhaps something similar could be done here?
