I didn't really need it personally, some people might appreciate it more. Just hoping it isn't over tuned so they are talking a bit too much.
There's a slider that lets you control the verbosity level.
Same. For me its Empire Earth III that's giving me war flashbacks of overly frequent voice barks on top of terrible pathfinding AI.
I love the voice acting in BG3 too much to complain though. Apparently what companions will say alters depending on how far along you are in their story? That's pretty cool!
Barks are characterisation's used to personify each character when you make it do similar actions or verbally que the player as whats happening around them.
For instance in Skyrim, all npc's have proximity barks that they shout out if the player gets close enough to them, the fabled arrow to the knee is an example. Or when your companion screams out as they charge an enemy.
A great example is Real Time Strategy games which have tons of barks.
