Larian really doesn't honor BG fans. Not even 5%. DOS3 with a BG name tag.
This is DOS3 with a name tag of BG. It is cartoonish in many ways. Cartoon means to exagerate things and make things unrealistic.

We have "super jump".

We have picking up items like they were feathers AND no animation and we dont even touch the object (we pick them up with our mind??? Telekinetic? And WHYY?).

Talking to a boar because we can do that in all larian games...

Instead of realistic 2D we have outdated light 3D graphics, horrible looking UI that looks nowhere as BG (wheres the blending of stone/wood/clockwork into the environment).

Theres no imort/export what I could see, ORGIIN stories WHY.

MULTI CLASS and DUAL CLASS, Helloooo???

Glowing and glossy objects and items. Characters with this glow, feels like Dead or Alive?

Unrealistic movements.

Pointless amount of objects (to pick up).

Dialogue as if it has happened.

The whole thing feels over the top comical and light. Instead of dark (minus the intro).

Instead of realistic portraits we have prints of the characters in 3D. That will age a lot, just go back and look at games that did this.

Characters can fly away 30 meters by taking a hit. Is this Dead or Alive??

It’s fine if they mix some things from their previous games but when i saw it i thought the whole time they are showing their upcoming divinity title

First of all Wizards of the Coast went to Larian to make this exact game the way it is after Swords Coast Legends was dead out of the water.

This game isn't even in alpha yet so just because you didn't see things doesn't mean it's not planned.

Ooh there it is again!
Someone disagrees so naturally gets the 'You're not a Fan!!11' response. Classic. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
It's like that's all these people know how to respond with.

How many more hundreds of hours and complete playthroughs do we need to do before we are considered 'fans' I wonder.. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

not cartoonish

not really a super jump

the animations are quick and simple for loot, whats the issue

talking to animals..is a thing..you can do..in D&D

"realistic 2d" you mean those low quality jpgs from the old game? the game looks better, looks similar to 5e artwork.

import/export of what?

multiclassing i admit would be nice, probably removed for balance reasons, or effort to make work.

you mean: UI highlighting, a QoL feature?

the movements have been bad in all of them

dialogue..is as it happens?

there was so little context, it all sounded casual for someone on the start of their adventure? why would it be grimdark.

3d characters look neat, arguments of "age badly" dont hold water.

you can fly 30 meters by taking a hit in D&D? shove mechanics exist.

I was fine with some things, such as turnbased instead of pause (shame but could live with it). But theres not a single thing except the name and setting that makes this a bg sequel. Its really insulting towards a true BG fan.

He didn't disagree. He accused me of trolling that's why he got the block and 0 respect from me. He deserved it with that unproductive insult. Also. I believe someone can be a fan of both games, but if you MORE are a fan of BG then you wouldn't like this take on BG3. Because its basically a DOS3 except setting and story.

Complaining that that a game in 2020 isn't 2D to stroke your nostalgia-boner, is definitely 'trolling'.

Bleh. Disappointed but not surprised. Turn based is just more mainstream and console friendly.

Not ideal for the old school fans but honestly from a financial perspective and catering to their own audience from the dos 1-2 games turn based was the only way to go.

Yep completely agree with you.I missed the baldurs gate feeling the whole time i also think turn based is fine but both options would have been better

It's a D&D game. I presume you never played D&D IRL. Everything that was presented yesterday looked like a regular D&D session. I loved it and will have fun playing it.

But how do you know the story of an unfinished game?

They will be working in characters from the original games and all the lands and places are the same as it's all in the Forgotten Realms.

I get it. All Larian and DOS fan loves this BG3. But my whole point is. If you truly are a fan of BG and dislike teen games such as DOS you would hate this take on BG3. Which is what I do. It doesn't feel like BG. It feels like DOS3 with a BG setting and story.
