But still would I prefer turn based and as close to PNP as possible(so close that the player handbook is basically the games manual)
whats the point of about 10000000 threads about this topic (or more accurately: issue)
Not only it's my opinion that it's an inherently superior system to rtwp and one of the very few things that stopped BG2 from approaching perfection.
I'm also far less confident in Larian's ability to deliver a good rtwp in general.
That said, neither option would be a deal breaker for me, as far as well implemented.
I'm far more concerned about how Larian will handle itemization frankly. Will they go the BG2 road (one of the best games ever made in that sense) or stick to their randomized loot system used in both the D:OS games, which was frankly garbage and the greatest flaw in the game?
You are suggesting that Larian as an incompetent studio shouldnt make any decision on their own...
That's far from the truth..
They aren't Bethesda.. or Bioware..
Just like CD Projekt Red choose only to put first person view to Cyberpunk
I think Larian knows what is better for their game than some random angry fans
Pillars of Eternity added that engagement system that prevented the kiting exploit everyone used in the IE games. If it's gonna be RTwP that needs to be adressed and solved, maybe like PoE did it.
Which engine it uses isn't an indication of whether it will have a RTwP or TB combat system. The D:OS engine can easily do either. And, as Larian have said, BG3 isn't using the same version of the engine but the next version of i, which has very many new features added to it.
Good luck with all that.
Turn Based is fun and structured, but it just takes too long to get through combat heavy areas. I might burn out on the game before it’s over.
