Archlinux x64 game shuts down immidiately
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to run Zomboid Project on archlinux x64. I have installed java, even swtiched to java7 and turned off Steam overlay, but game is not running. I can launch it from steam, select from two options and then it stars to run and immidiatly goes down.

With 8th or 7th java? I've installed 7th for zomboid (found tip somwhere), but it looks like it does not work with it, too. I switch it using archlinux-java util.
Currently set to 8th:
openjdk version "1.8.0_66"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_66-b17)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.66-b17, mixed mode)
Should run fine on Archlinux, with openjdk-7 or 8, both work. Its an issue with steam itself and Arch being rolling release. Some libraries shipped with steam cause problems sometimes. Look here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam#Steam_runtime_issues

Have you tried launching it from a terminal? (~.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid.sh)
Also, I did not look at it before, your console.txt looks really short, is it complete? If so, it looks like the game isn't even started.

To be honest, I am guessing now and doing some searching in the web. The lwjgl - stuff, something wrong with initializing the display or something... I saw you did an update, latest Arch-kernel, so your Xorg is up to date too as well as your graphics drivers, right? Do you have xorg-xrandr installed? Asking the web told me, newer versions of lwjgl (which is shipped with ProjectZomboid I believe) seem to need xrandr.
You should try that. If that does not help, I fear I am out. But quite sure, EnigmaGrey will be back to you sooner or later.

If I try to run from steam - I get no sound output and game hangs when I try to move. (maybe it's known bug?)

Maybe that is something with the libasound.so in steam's ubuntu..xx.. folder (the link to the pz-forums)?

FYI, this same thing happened to me, and installing xrandr was also the solution. And indeed, the problem is the lwjgl library included in the PZ install requires xrandr but nothing checks for its presence.

Same here. It would be great if zomboid could (at least for the time being) detect the lack of xrandr and throw up some sort of error. A dead simple one (although it would only spit out the error at the command line) would be to stick the following in `projectzomboid.sh`:

Had the same problem and error. Installing xrandr (x11-xserver-utils) fixed it.
