Stuttering & Pulsing Lighting On Mac
I give you this short short video not recorded from my computer (due to game performance) to see what I'm dealing with.

https://youtu.be/PXLPU4U48As

I'm not sure if this is a "bug" or just poor settings, but notice how this happens even while the game is paused!

This happens in both Single Player and Multiplayer and every time the lighting pulses like that, the fps grinds to a halt for a fraction of a second and then keeps going. This sucks, cause your character slows down in the game, but the game around you seems to progress normally (seems to / unconfirmed)

I'm on a 2014 Retina Macbook Pro with
2.5GHz Intel Core i7,
16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Ram,
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048MB graphics card
and I'm running Mac OS High Sierra.

I've tried a bunch of different settings, but not all of them. These are what my settings look like currently:

Fullscreen : Yes
Borderless Window: No
VSync: No
Multi-Core: Yes
Post-processing: Yes
Resolution: 1680x1050
3d models: Player Only
3d corpses: No
Blood Decals: 100%
Lock Framerate: 30 (seemed to get laggy if I unlocked it)
UI Offscreen Rendering: Yes
UI Rendering FPS: 20
Texture Compression: No
Double-sized textures: Yes
Lighting Quality: Lowest (lowering lighting seemed to help a little... but doesn't look very good at lowest lol)
Lighting updates: 15(recommended)
New Roof-Hiding: Yes
Enable Zoom: Yes

The more I zoomed out, the more pronounced the pulsing and stuttering got.

I have the steam overlay turned off to be able to play in general (cause otherwise it's just a black screen).

I'm not super savvy with these types of settings, so if you have a suggestion of what I should change, I'm all ears. Friend told me to jump on their server and I feel like I should be able to run things fine, but I'm struggling here.

Any help is appreciated :)

I would try the settings at the far bottom of the options page.

Dynamic Skybox: No
Environment Reflections: No

It is also good to keep the Lighting Quality higher than lowest, as the lowest one can be ugly and buggy at times.

Hope this helps.

I will try it out!
That definitely helped. I don't know which helped more, but the pulsing lighting is gone (probably the reflections thing) and the timed stuttering is gone.

I was able to put the lighting to low instead of lowest (which is much nicer) and as long as I don't zoom out more than 150%, it's relatively smooth ish. It can definitely drop fps below my capped 30, but it's much more playable than prior.

Thank you for the suggestions! I don't really need to zoom out so much anyhow. It makes it less exciting and feels like cheating lol
