its says host must allow you to join and my friend cant find where to let me in

In the game itself there should be a way to invite him. Look for that and do it that way mate. That's how I had to be invite myself. Hope this helps and good luck mate.

Edit: Sorry misread that. Have them look at the top some where if I recall correctly. I'm not in game, but there should be an option in the interface if I recall correctly.

From inside the game on your server, hit ESC and click Invite Friends (I think that's what it's called) and invite them through that. That's the only way it will work. Just double checked. Let me know how you go mate.
