It did have a water pump located outside the main building. We used to sneak over there with our banana seat bicycles and fill our bellies with the cool water during the hot summers. Steal fruit off of the nearby pear tree.
It was just a pipe coming up out of the ground with a spigot handle to open and shut the valve. I don't think it had power, as it was powered by hand pump spigot. Very old school.
There was also a natural spring just up the hill that had a constant flow of water into a ditch.
We drank from that too, but probably shouldn't have as there were big farms at the top of the hill... likely using pesticides and fertilizers.
Those were the days when the outside world was our entertainment and our sandbox was infinite.
I have a seeping spring on a hill below my house but nothing I could drink from.
