Project Zomboid

Ability to climb Up / Down and Hang to the escape ropes
[PROPOSITION:]
I propose we should be able to press the up or down key to go in climb in the opposite way the player came from AND hang to it, that means stop moving on it.

PROBLEMS IT WOULD SOLVE:

- Due to the top down perspective of the game it's quite hard to see through the windows sometimes on the 1+ floor if there are zombies down there waiting for you.

- If you accidentally press the E key and go down there is no way to come back up, you need to land first even though you don't want to go in the pack of zombies under you.

- You just forgot something? No problem, no need to touch the floor just to be able to climb all the way up again to get in your base for that one item.

Actually what i would like is an option to "lean out the window" prespective is not only a problem at heights.
Once i had a sound bug heard a zombie thought he will start banging on the door went through the house and climbed out the window just to get chomped in the side.

I think the accidental-E-key problem would be better solved by making it the same as climbing through a window or climbing a fence - hold E instead of a single tap. I mean that's all of the places you can attach and climb ropes anyways, fences or windows. Then it's easier to learn because they're all the same, and the long/dangerous action needs a longer more deliberate button hold.

Leaning out is maybe not the best solution, the problem is that the "view system" is quite weird. You can't really look properly through the windows from outside when you are like 5 tiles away. I think it just needs a little bit of rework.
(F for your character :lunar2019wavingpig: )

Long press is better for this kind of thing yes but if you need to react fast you can run toward a fence and the character will jump it but I don't know if it works with windows though.

We're talking about different problems here but aside from that everything I've said still stands. I think we should be able to do that for the different reasons I explained.
