Picking up crates shouldn't need skill
They are boxes sitting on the ground. There is no tool or skill needed to pick them up. How come I can pick up a fridge but not a box that weights less and it's as attached to the ground as the fridge?
Counters are installed, I understand I can break them while trying to release them but boxes aren't.

Shhh! They'll take away our ability to lift fridges!!!

But no, I agree. And, to be honest, moving a sofa shouldn't require a certain skill level to prevent it from breaking either. I c'mon, it's a sofa. I've moved so many of those by myself irl and I'm not a carpenter by any means. It just comes down to strength and knowing how to lift something.

Does any of the furniture have a minimum strength requirement? I feel like only fairly strong characters should be able to move an entire couch upstairs by themselves. ^^;

No strengh requirement that I'm aware of but your strengh does affect how much you can bare carrying the weight

Build41 Doesn't have this problem. But that's beta branch...and it's rumored to be like 2 years ahead of main branch in updates. (which is what I've heard, not what I can confirm)
However in Build41 you cannot pickup fridges and countertops without specific tools. (Cardboard Boxes are fine though, they're just 2lb pick up orders empty, no tools/skills)

It should be fixed. Objects standing on the ground like refrigerators, boxes and furniture should not need anything to pick up and the chance to break should be related to the strengh vs weight.
this also would open the posibility to have trolley carts equiped and reduce it, then have it loaded on the trolley and move it with no weight impact.
Two trolleys could exist, the small 2 wheeled ones and big ones, 4 wheels, more weight capacity

Well, strength vs. weight isn't the only consideration. Wrenches are needed to unhook certain objects from their ground/wall mounts in Build41 (one of which is refridgerators and ice boxes), because in real life you DO secure these into a building with bolts (trust me, I've worked in a family owned bakery, I know what I'm talking about when I say "Fridges/Ovens are Typically Bolted"). Also Deconstruction and Pick up are two different acts, and things that you pick up in Build41, do not typically need tools/skills, unless they are something that would be bolted to the ground (i.e. a fridge). Even then, lifting these things is another matter altogether. To Deconstruct them though typically needs some form of tool (either a hammer and wrench or a screwdriver, or something similar)

Again, things that you'd pick from the ground should not need any skill nor tools. This implies that things that are do need skills and tools. Wood crates, which are objects sitting on the ground, need carpentry and a hammer to lift. And with carpentry level 3 I have 50% chance of breaking it while picking it up. It weights 7
