So you can drive into zombies with less damage to vehicles :)

Even just welding some metal sheets onto the hood and windscreen would help :D

uh wouldn't really work very well...i don't think it'd slow the vehicle down but it would be nice if we could put some kinda metal sheets over the windows with slits big enough to see out. but not big enough for zombies to get in. because when ya get surrounded it does become a little "Grr" when they break in, at a speed thats a bit to high for someone to lure them away. having some kind of melee weapon would be nice too!

and dont forget the lights. I have set the game to absolute darkness at night and need to repair every 1-5 meters because I hit a zombie with 2-5 km/h. Or you can craft extra lights on the roof of the car.........

I support this. This is quintessential zombie stuff, really. Cow-catchers, window slats, roll cages, spikes, ect.

Should you ever be able to ram through a horde at 60MPH and drive away undamaged? No. Even MBTs would have a tough time doing that. so our utility vans ain't gonna do squat.

But, it would be totally reasonable to be able to put window slats, a big bumper, and some sort of undercarriage protection to allow us to more quickly and more safely drive through hordes.

honestly either the car parts need to be buffed or be reinforced somehow, I find myself replacing my car's hood or front doors a little too frequently. Not to mention the windshield is filmsy.

I am collecting every light bulb I find, because like said in my last post, they break to fast......
Have over 20 in my car Trunk, if I go on a long trip.

Honestly dont drive like a drunk and you should be fine.

One thing I hate about the base game vehicle is that it offers ZERO bullet protection it's like you are not in a vehicle but is the vehicle... The vehicle mod had APC's and Tanks and some of the cars had bullet protection, before Official vehicles were released .

Maybe oneday they will incorporate that as being inside a vehicle is a death trap if you get fired upon while driving.

lol this happened to me yesterday, there were 5 guys on the street shooting, I thought they were shooting zombies because their names were with dark teal color, was driving fast so I just passed around them barely, almost hit them with car just to see after 2 seconds that I was full of holes and died. Mind that it took 3-4 seconds for me seeing them, passing them and stopping until I dont see them, imagine at what speed they managed to unload all of their iron on me!

I was like "wait what, so they were hostile ok, but I was in a VAN how the freck did they hit my legs" haha
Started new game, found a new van, started driving, I heard someone shooting who I couldn't see, his base was at the end of my zoomed out view, at the top right, while I was driving toward the top left, so from one shot, at a long 100+ m distance, this frecking sniper probably using a pistol shot me on my left seat from my right window. LOL

At least the damage spot was realistic, my right shoulder, but come on.

So I am looking for:
1. Car protecting you from bullets (25% chance to get shot at close range NOT 100%, and 5% at long range)
2. Able to craft and repair armor for the lights, hood, windshield (zombieshield? lol)
Even a simple primitive wood bumper would nulify the damage to the hood and engine, well until the wood breaks.

I just cant imagine myself each week going to a new town to find a new hood and windshield lol, its unrealistic. It would be fun to take a normal car, level up your mechanics skill, start modding the car toward a zombie killing machine (that requires constant maintenance not constant sourcing of car parts), we have all seen the movies.

edit: Found a mod that lets you repair car parts:

Yes! I came here to make some car-related suggestions. I want the full zombie survivor's package: being able to turn your car into a rolling fortress with armor plates, spikes, a zombie-plow (important!), roof lights, etc.

I'm not gonna ask for much. Just some extra roof lights to address the broken headlights and chainlink fence over the windows for when they break. Simple. Anyone could do this.

I want me a zombie plow. To plow zombies.

With spikes.

Yeah this needs to become a thing. Reinforcing the frame with metal sheets, reinforcing windows with metal bars or slatted sheets, adding a plow to the front, etc. should all be things that can be done to make a vehicle able to move through a horde. Right now cars just kinda get swarmed and you're doomed if you get caught in a horde, and that's not really fun.

I think you should definitely be doomed if you're caught in a horde and lose your speed. It's about momentum, and once you lose it, it doesn't matter if you have a plow. I don't want a car that becomes a catch-all solution to hordes. But a plow so that if you have the speed, you can make a hole in a horde and do some serious damage would be good!

Well, I suppose the problem that I have with the current system is that hitting one zombie, even when you have them set to be Weak, Fragile Shamblers, instantly drops your speed by roughly 30 mph no matter what vehicle you're driving. I could see a compact four-seater just losing a ton of momentum because of a zombie, but a big family-sized sedan going full-speed should hardly lose any momentum from hitting a lone zombie, especially if the zombie doesn't see it coming. Hopefully a bit more nuance will be added to momentum loss from slamming into zombies in the future.
