Currency!
I believe that currency is a needed thing before AI, and with factions in Mp implemented, it would be interesting o see currency applied.

I would like to see paper money found on zombies, safes, cash registers and such and allow players to set it up as a currency. It could be used once AI npcs are implemented and such and add a new dynamic to multiplayer .

Why would anyone want currency though? Can you eat it? Can you fight zombies with it? Will it keep you warm through winter (well paper money might, but at a rather cost inefficient rate).

none of the above, but it gives people what they are familiar with. A currency based trading system instead of bartering. when trading it can be a pain to carry everything you want to trade so instead of carrying that you can carry cash and have astronomical prices on good since money is relatively common. Its not a SP kind of object though. It requires Multiplayer and it can be SP once NPCs are in

Let me put it this way; why would anyone accept cash? You and me are playing MP, I offer you 10'000 dollars for your last axe. Do you agree? If so, why? What could you possibly do with the cash? Go to the bank? Buy a new axe in the store? Pay your student loans? Would not an axe that you can use to chop wood, zombies and enemies with be worth an infinite amount of cash?

as put by terry pratchett, 'money is only a promise'. a promise of value etched in to a shiny coin or printed on a fancy scrap of paper. without anyone to back up that promise, what value is there? that is not to say there couldnt come somone else to fill that role...

regardless it would make for a neat junk/lore item to find lying around, and perhaps you could use it as tinder in firestarting. finding a corpse surrounded by tons of cash would really put into perspective how useless money can be.

i really feel like quoting the gold vs potatos speech from 'making money', this seems like a sutable place for it.

Like the others said cash still retaining value after the end of civilization just dosent make any
sense. Trading for supplys and equipment might work.

Money without society's infrastructure in only paper. And with apocalypse happening, whole infrastructure went woosh! out the window.

Evey society that doesn't have that rely on goods and/or services exchange.

Also today's money is a way to fool and control people, ever wondered why we do not use anymore gold and silver coins or what happens to country leaders that wanted to start using gold as currency instead of piece of paper ?

Also....think of the use of money and why we don't use bartering, now impliment it, and god no on ai, just a mp thing or enableable in advanced settings (disabled by deafult)
