Black Screen Issue

I'm getting a black screen when I start up the game. After character creation and world generation. I can see the UI, tips, inventory etc, but everything under that is simply black.

Tried compatability mode and safe start up, no change.

I'm using an ATI Raedom 5700 series 2GB graphics card. Very vanilla computer: dual core 2.8 chips, Windows 7 fully patched.

Played this a long time ago back on Desura without issues, but the game looks like it has changed a fair bit since then.

Same here. Safe mode fixes it but the game runs like crap in safe mode even when doing what is recommended and keeping the frame rate lock on, so either way I can't play.

Works fine in the safemode for me.

Read the stickies about using a bat file to start the game in safemode. It will run good

Same issue here, considering how long ago this was reported I'd really expect it to be fixed by now :(

Whenever I launch the game, I don't get the choice to play compatibility mode for some reason. It just launches the game. I tried right clicking the game and everything.

We should have that fixed shortly.

In the mean time, can you try adding -safemode to the launch options in Steam by right clicking PZ in your Library and setting that? That may sort it, if not you can launch from the .bat files.

OK. I just reinstalled it. I can play compatibility mode, but there is still a black screen.

Compatibility mode is currently not functional on OS X either way. We're tracking the issue and should have it fixed shortly.

Helloo!! I played technic demo a one years ago, and this game working fine for me. I buy this game today and when i begin play, i see just BLACK screen and invenotry, time and some guess(bear)..???? ARE YOU **** KIDDING ME????!!!!

What can't be detected programmatically has to be taken over by you, I'm afraid.

Though why you're having trouble, I do not know -- I had (until last month) a Radeon 5670 myself. There's nothing wrong with AMD's support for FBOs on them, unlike with certain other cards (or legacy cards -- not that the 5xxx series won't be in legacy status soon).

There are thousands of games on Steam vying for people's limited time. I don't get paid to debug Project Zomboid, you presumably do. I am clearly not the only person with this problem, so if you can't get your simple little game running smoothly on a very vanilla system sporting a popular video card, that's on you. If you can't fix it maybe hire someone who can, or put up a big disclaimer on your store page that your game may not work with some popular video cards and despite almost six months since my initial post you still have no idea what the problem is.

No skin off my nose either way. I'll just move on to another of the 400 games in my Steam library. It's not like I poured several years of MY blood and tears into a video game, that some people who paid me money for it can't play, and others have to basically run in the equivalent of safe mode.

It's been almost six months. I can't belive we're still having this conversation and you've basically poped on to say "we can't see anything....YOU fix it". Sheesh.
