Can't hit anything with guns
My character has got 6 aim. Trying to shoot a zombie from 2 feet away with anything but a shotgun is a miss. The shotgun lands maybe 1 in 3 hits from said distance. Character is brave with no panic, no negative moodles.

To test this, I also went in debug godmode - still can't hit ANYTHING. Crawlers and anything on stairs also seem to be immune to bullets. My dude just shoots the guns clear over crawlers.

Even looked up a guide online and no one there can seem to hit anything either. Can someone please explain this to me. I've got 800 hours in this and still can't hit anything unless it's point blank and even then on those rare occasions it feels like winning the lottery.

Sadly over the last 13 updates to B42, aiming is just not a priority. Boggles the mind, that the game with most target rich environment as it's stand-out feature, can't seem to nail this basic element down.

I feel like guns do way too little damage for how risky and ammo consuming they are. I'm hitting almost every shot even at aiming 1, but even shotguns at point blank can't kill with one shot usually and pistols are completely pointless, they take like 5 shots to kill a zombie. What even is the point.. when I can just one shot it with a melee weapon and cause no ruckus.
And I tried in debug with like aiming 5 and it barely seems to get better with better aiming skill. Imho the range on weapons should increase massively with better aiming but it doesn't feel so. That's the whole point of guns, you can shoot zombies from a distance. But now they're just loud melee weapons. I can kill more zombies with a sword or short bat than I can kill with 5 boxes of shotgun ammo. And I won't have to deal with the other 500 zombies that I pulled if I used a gun. Rant over. :)

To OP: There's 2 aiming modes. Chance to hit, and chance to damage. I think chance to damage is now the default option. Which should make you hit almost every shot, but damage calculates similar to melee weapons based off aiming skill. Maybe try a new save and see if the problem persists there.

Devs have said here that [Chance to Damage] is the same, and its only a cosmetic preference. IOW, it delivers fake hits where the other option would, be a miss. IMO, this is a poor solution to some underlying problem with (as u said)... the lack of long range capability.

The end result is [Chance to Damage] can result in a zombie absorbing a crazy number of shots without dying, making them essentially armored.

Just tried it with an M16 and I can hit most things most of the time (I actually landed headshots!?), but pistols, shotguns, or any other gun just will not hit. Seems silly that at two feet away a shotgun misses? How? I'd be willing to bet even a blind person would be able to hear and hit a zombie from two feet away with one unless they're using slugs.

Mine was set to 'chance to hit' which is default and I do not even see a chance to damage option. I'd rather learn it on its default settings as I'd assume that is what they are going to go with when the game is fully released?

As I stated earlier too, crawlers are an issue and good luck hitting anything as it changes elevation. The game just doesn't seem to be able to cope with aiming up or down. I'm guessing it's an engine limitation from the earlier builds, as such I wouldn't expect that to change. No offense to TIS either (I adore this game), but with their rate of fixes/updates I do not expect this to be sorted for several years.

Guns are absolute suicide in this. I'm just going to avoid it as I have done for the past 900 hours. Seems a bit silly to me that in a zombie apocalypse you'd avoid guns.
