And I tried in debug with like aiming 5 and it barely seems to get better with better aiming skill. Imho the range on weapons should increase massively with better aiming but it doesn't feel so. That's the whole point of guns, you can shoot zombies from a distance. But now they're just loud melee weapons. I can kill more zombies with a sword or short bat than I can kill with 5 boxes of shotgun ammo. And I won't have to deal with the other 500 zombies that I pulled if I used a gun. Rant over. :)
To OP: There's 2 aiming modes. Chance to hit, and chance to damage. I think chance to damage is now the default option. Which should make you hit almost every shot, but damage calculates similar to melee weapons based off aiming skill. Maybe try a new save and see if the problem persists there.
The end result is [Chance to Damage] can result in a zombie absorbing a crazy number of shots without dying, making them essentially armored.
Mine was set to 'chance to hit' which is default and I do not even see a chance to damage option. I'd rather learn it on its default settings as I'd assume that is what they are going to go with when the game is fully released?
As I stated earlier too, crawlers are an issue and good luck hitting anything as it changes elevation. The game just doesn't seem to be able to cope with aiming up or down. I'm guessing it's an engine limitation from the earlier builds, as such I wouldn't expect that to change. No offense to TIS either (I adore this game), but with their rate of fixes/updates I do not expect this to be sorted for several years.
Guns are absolute suicide in this. I'm just going to avoid it as I have done for the past 900 hours. Seems a bit silly to me that in a zombie apocalypse you'd avoid guns.
