Build 42 is super laggy
So long story short ive been playing Build 41 for a long time now and its smooth like butter no matter the mods or anything but when i switched to Build 42 its almost unplayable, lags, crashes, freezes. Is it normal? should i not use mods? or is my PC? ill be glad if you can help me.

I have the same specs with you, and play with lot of mods with average framerate 50-60 fps (not stable) also stutter occasionally, but for me its acceptable, plus need to tweak graphic settings, my tips for similar pc specs:

- Disable dynamic skybox
- Set simple clothing textures to zombie only
- Disable V-Sync
- Set blood decal lower or max 50%
- Set water quality to low (looks like s*** but give extra performance)
- Set dynamic puddle to ground only
- Set fog quality to medium
- Set precipitation speed multiplier to 50
- Tick texture compression (if it's turned off on your game)
- Turn off UI offscreen rendering
- Set max zoom to 150%, no higher than that, also you can tick pan while aiming to compensate visible range when using guns
- If you experience lag when using in-game map, get Map Legend UI mod
- ShaderZ mod i think also giving a slight performance boost (on my end), and make your graphic crisp, since the vanilla graphic looks a bit blurry and i assume its the game post-processing taking effect and potentially giving a performance hit
- Couple mods to install like better fps (but optional)
- Zombie population settings also affect the performance, set it between normal to low, higher population means higher cpu load/memory consume.

Well its the unstable version so who knows.
Im playing B42 on an older PC with 8 GB ram and 4.9 GHz quad core CPU and it works okay. Not super great but nothing unplayable either.

I mean it has slight stutters in dense urban areas while horde of zombies walk about. When it all loads in.

But still maintains 60 fps unless i zoom out all the way then it's 40 fps untill i zoom back in a tad. Didn't need to reduce any settings to make it playable. Suprisingly.

Then again i keep unnecessary processes to bare mininum when playing games that may be a little too much for my CPU and RAM.

im playing b42 just fine for about 2 weeks now

i have potato pc GTX 1650 S and 4 GHZ 4 core CPU

just dont drop all items on the ground and u should be fine, thats mainly what makes the game lag. dont be lazy and put ur items in crate

also, sometimes map takes long to load when there is a huge horde nearby

dang 4 core cpu :steammocking: your gpu must be working very hard, maybe you take care of it very well so that its performance is 100%.
also applies to monster rig pc, if the owner can't take care of it well, performance will definitely decrease over time

Thank you this improved my performance by a lot!. im on my first build 42 run now but even without performance issues I gotta deal with random bugs :steamsad:

Glad that it works for you! i also hope the amount of bug in build 42 can be further reduced in the next update.
