Fullscreen AMD Radeon

So... Hi...

in advance... i spent just 5 freaking hours! FIVE! to try to solve that! so PLEASE spare me the obvious stuff... i try´d it!

Icant play Zomboid in Fullscreen mode or Borderless Window... as soon as i try that... i see my desktop and i have to force shut down the game....

so again... 5h have passed... i cant get it to run! I try´s every little bit of change or help outside there! i even had the help of AI! i try´d setting in the deepest abyssal dungeons of settings and checkmarks! Changing resolution wont change a bit! as soon as i activate fulscreen or borderless window it wont work anymore! Window mode works fine but I DONT WHANT THAT!!

I turned off every overlay...i turned off every beckground running programs! i turned off any resolution changing setting in the AMD adrenaline AND in ALL of the window settings! i have try´d different starting options... like manipulating the options.ini with the proper numbers and and true/false settings on each of the resolutions. i force startet it with DX11... i have made it administrator start... i try so set DPI in the settings... F huge F F F F just F that!! that is probably not even everthing i testet....

GUYS AGAIN... please spare me the obvious stuff!! IT DID THAT THE LAST FIVE HOURS!! my driver are new!! UP TO DATE! i try´d downgrading... i try´d SOOOOOO MANY THING´s!! Run it in Compatibility mode and i testet each window option from the 32 bit version XP upt the 64bit version vista... NOTHING CHANGES... oh no sorry that was a lie!! sometimes it wont even startup at all with one of these settings i made!

so in the end... im exhaustet!! and i try´d a hole new start! new window new steam new everything! Problem still persists and im tired now! I WHANT TO PLAY IT IN FULLSCREEN!!! thats the worst problem i have ever engaged in my 30+ years of gaming and experience in making stuff run... but im at my end now... please HALP

No single word about ur system. I have full amd pc - ryzen 5600x and rx 6600, works just fine

oooohhh nooo morry im so sorry for not putting in my system....that wouldnt contribute ANYTHING to help with that problem... gosh... really?? sorry morry but you are worthless and letting me and anybody else with that problem know that its everthing fine on your side is pretty useless but please let me bath in your bright shine of "works just fine"... i hope that is enough words about my system and now please let actual thinking people get on this please and stop throwing in random words

so what actual does this imformation helps you now???

EDIT: and i mean it! stole another 5h of mine today and still gives me the finger when i switch to fullscreen! ... Window Mode works mighty fine and i can play it... but no borderless or fullscreen... after today it makes even less sense and maybe im doomed to play it in window mode

This is a problem that is occurring in the version of some amd integrated graphics drivers
and some old ones also the only way is to have to wait for the developers to fix it, they have already been informed that they are aware of the problem and will resolve it

so... morry earned a block now... he wont stop beeing an annoying dickhêâd and wont contribute anything but random useless words... and morry.... the title already says whats in my rig (AMD Radeon, is everything YOU need to know, especially your no dev nor programmer those would have specifally ask about my dxdiag... so shut the F now!!)

@ beard no i only have 1 monitor. i already considered that too... and i have checked if there maybe was something wrong but it all seems good and its connectet via HDMI and the scale is set to 100%! that includes me testing the change of scale too but everybody seems to say that if you by chance had changed that... it could be a reasen to not be able to go fullscreen. so maybe thats a solution for somebody else if you have had it any other than 100% scale.

That is unusual, could you try enabling the OpenGL Triple Buffering as a test in your AMD control panel?

...nope same thing but slighty worse. it took me now 3 try´s to get into the menu then failed again on switching to fullscreen and back to black window after those whatever 20seconds they give you to accept. force fullscreen via option.ini wont even start at all like usaual :D

and another intresting thing happend now... the control panel now still seems to see the game as running and crashed now too :D i just love it... and again leaving it in window is totally fine and the game runs smooth

I might suggest doing a clean reinstall as well in case some weird resolution settings would be applied to the game.

First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

i did a whole new format and installation of window the other day. that was my last solution on my journey but it changed nothing, sadly

maybe its what maionese said and i wait a couple weeks for the devs to look into it and hope that its just fine on my end and just a driver command line issue somewhere

There will be some AMD specific improvements, though yours is the first case so far that is specific to the game having a fullscreen issue. What Windows version are you on?

i run windows 11 Pro and im not the only one i found 2 other threads but they do not really care and just play in window mode

Could you link those threads? SInce I am not aware of them and I would prefer to have the issues written down.
