Lag and fps drop in b42
Hello everyone, I'm experiencing a tough time trying to play the build 42. The game is pretty laggy and is reaching 10 to 15 fps average and dropping even more. I have really tried to find a reason in this, even blaming my own pc and specs but that's not true. I have tried to play the last version( b41) and the games runs smoother than ever. I think something is really going wrong with the optimization of the game. Generally I play many games and I have totally no issues with them, even setting most of them in the highest settings and graphics. I tried different ways to solve this even overclocking my GPU(it helped a bit) but no really positive outcome. I'm just curious, is anyone else having the same problem as mine?

If your GPU is an older amd card, you are cooked, need to wait the devs to fix it.
damn, i was wondering why it was so much slower. guess i'll have to wait to check out 42 until that's resolved
this issue is for amd users i have rx 6600 and have same problem

That GPU should not have the issue, are you certain you have the latest drivers installed?

Not sure where's the perfect place to make a new topic, so I'm tagging you here instead.

When I launch PZ, it's like there's a roulette that will dictate what's my max framerate gonna be for the next 5 to 40 minutes. Sometimes it's 120, sometimes 180, other times it easily caps out at 240. Regardless, it runs smoothly at acceptable fps.
Then after these 5-40 minutes are up, the framerate and frametime both get progressively worse, until it's a stuttery mess reaching 30-70fps max. Additionally, interacting with any of the UI windows (crafting, inventory, placing items) during that state will always make the issue worse.

It's merely a hypothesis, but it's like the game stops properly utilising my GPU resources, even though it uses up all my RAM, VRAM, and GPU power.

The same thing happens when I change the settings, or sometimes when I alt-tab with no clear pattern. I did a clean install of B42, and have tried pretty much every standard troubleshooting method: numerous combinations of graphic settings, running the game as admin and/or with compatibility modes. allocating more memory, and a couple more things that I can't remember anymore.

My specs are AMD RX590, Ryzen 3700x, 16gb of ram, OS is Win10

Do tell how can I be of help, cause I've only seen 1 person with this specific issue (they phrased it something like "fps dropping over time"), so I'd be happy to assist in getting it solved.
And this happens only in B42 or B41 as well?
Only in B42.
My B41 performance was ~115fps max, down to ~30fps at 250% zoom, but it was smooth, stable, and consistent

Lmk if you'd like me to collect more logs, for example with local mods fully removed (even though they were disabled in the most recent instance in the logs), or where I reproduce the issue with different methods, or where I keep launching the game until it decides that it'll run with >240 fps until it doesn't anymore.

Also, another thing that causes the fps issue is leaving to main menu and loading back in, it happened in 2nd most recent launch of the game.

Thanks, I cannot find any specific issues in your logs, however your graphics card may be one of those that currently have issues with FPS and some cannot even play B42. I would suggest waiting until the next patch released and then let me know if that helps improve the performance.
I too believe the main issue is related to B42 with the AMD graphics card, but also the “Inventory Tetris” and “Common Sense” mods also put a very heavy load on performance. They are clearly more than great and legendary mods, and I have great respect for their authors. However, they directly or indirectly utilize the onTick event, which requires a function to process on every frame, up to 60 times per second if your FPS is 60. You’ll notice the difference if you run the game after disabling these mods.

I'm having huge fps-drops in a very specific situation:
It's going from cap to 1 fps when I go near a couple of Farm Houses, when i patiently turn around and go backwards I return to cap-fps.

It wasn't like this before, I'm almost 2 months in this run and it's close to where I set up my Base.
The only thing I changed was building a wooden fence (with fence doors) around a Living Zone for animals where I brought a sheep a while ago. The place with the fps-loss has a living zone aswell, and it's where i took the sheep from. I tried removing the Animal Zone close to my base aswell opening the doors to let the sheep out of the zone.

Try going to your save folder and delete the "apop" folder found there.
