Could not create the Java Virtual Machine

My game wasn't launching. So I have run the bat file. It says:
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Hi, I'm having the same issue. The game won't start. When I click "Play" it opens a cmd window then it closes after a couple of seconds then the "Play" button is clickable again. Assuming that the game didn't run, can you help me?

Download the DLL "Open32.dll" 32/64 bits, and paste it into the "Bin" folders in Jre and Jre64, it worked for me!

No joy. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Java (Minecraft launcher gives me a 'fatal error' something or other), Project Zomboid and followed the instructions above, but not having any success.

I think this is the first time I've ever had issues getting a game to run off Steam. Frustrating!

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Other Steam games are still running fine, no other issues.

If you go into the actual game folder there is bat files to run the game. One for 32 bit and one for 64. Try running a bat file and post the error.

This was the solution for my problem which i tried to figure out for few hours

Installed game and got this error. Deleting the folders did the job for me.
