Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Linux - game instaquits unless toggled between proton and back.
Somewhat of a headscratcher:

Fresh install of the game in native linux mode, run compat launch.
-crash.

Run the game in compat mode (protonGE), game works but no host possible.

Switch back to linux native and let it "sync/update" (37.77Mb), run compat launch.
-game works with hosting and mods.

That is until steam is restarted and the whole process needs to be done again.
(set proton mode, launch, exit, set native mode, launch & play)

Pop_os 22.04LTS, 4,2GHz cpu, 32Gb RAM, rx5500xt 8Gb, game settings on medium.

Run the game in native mode 3 times, after that, can you share your logs.zip file found in Home\Zomboid?
You can use any file-sharing website of your choice or a temporary one like filetransfer.io for example.
Problem is that it exits right on launch so that folder is only updated when it works...
(native launch post-install doesn't generate the zomboid folder in ~home)

I will tinker with it some more, in the meantime i guess i found a workaround for not being able to host via the game on linux. XD

Just double-checked:
After a fresh install, the zomboid folder in ~home is only generated after the game has been launched in proton mode and then switched back to native.
Run the game using compatibility mode then.
If that fails as well, go to the game install folder and run the projerzomboid.sh file through your console, this should give you log output even if the logs do not get created.
It sorted itself, no idea how. :')
(steam update maybe?)

Running it normally(not compat launch) in linux and no issues with hosting from the main menu.

cheers
