Steam Deck L4/R4/L5/R5 binding issue
Greetings everyone. This question has probably been brought up before, more than once, but still. The game has received a new controller support system that introduced support for configuring Steam Deck controllers. However, the L4, R4, L5, R5 buttons are not available for binding in the game's menu. Moreover, I used to bind keyboard keys to the L4, R4 buttons to control camera zoom ("-", "=" respectively) through the Steam Deck's internal layout settings, but now the game, as I understand it, disables keyboard input when using a controller. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there perhaps a mod to fix this issue, or some other workaround? I understand that I could just make a layout that emulates the keyboard directly, completely disabling controller input, but that seems like it would be very inconvenient.

If you're on B42 those buttons haven't been implemented yet.

Yes, that's what I thought, thank you. If I understand correctly, during the controller support update, keyboard input was already disabled when using a controller, but the work on L4, R4 and the rest hasn't been finished yet, right? Some kind of intermediate stage?
Yeah there's still work ongoing to complete the controller support across all devices.
Overall, that's clear. Is there maybe a way to manually restore dual input from both the keyboard and the gamepad to emulate the missing buttons?
I'm not sure that's possible at the moment with the new input handler. I'd suggest making a post in the suggestion forum so the powers that be see this is a feature people would like.

You should be able to configure your controller through Steam Input so that is presses keys though, although that comes with its own downsides like the analogue sticks being a bit clunky
Thanks for the help. I think it's easier to just wait for full Steam Deck gamepad support.
If anyone encounters a similar issue, you should assign the mouse wheel up/down buttons to the back grip buttons via the Steam Deck layout menu. Surprisingly, the solution to this issue was exactly that. It definitely works on version 42.19.
