Steam deck controls not working

I got this a while ago. I think before it was deck verified? Idk, just remembering the controls put me off on the deck.
Saw it recently in my library, saw the green check (yeah I know it’s mostly useless lol) thought maybe controls are bearable now for me.

Well turns out, nothing is working. Only touch screen does anything. I was about to set things up, but it’s verified, so I shouldn’t have to?
I deleted any custom controller setting via the deck, but still, nothings working - at all.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

What version of the game are you playing? Did you perhaps opt into the Beta version of the game? Since that one does not support controllers at this moment.

No beta. I’m on build 41 - I get a welcome to build 41 screen.

Update: tried it on my wife’s deck. She got the game too back when. Same oled I have.
We have the same version, but her bottom right version info stuff is displaying bigger than mine. And her controls work, show controller icons etc.
Mine of course doesn’t.

Installed a Steam OS update, rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled.

No dice. No controls working at all.

Pfffft. I figured it out. I had to enable the steam controller check mark in the in-game options.
