Is Project Zomboid a valve anti-cheat (VAC) protected game?

I joined the game not long ago and when I am setting up the servers today I saw that under server options it says steamVAC = true. May I know is the Project Zomboid a steamVAC protected game? Because as far as I am aware of, the Project Zomboid is not listed as a steamVAC protected game in the store page. So why am I finding steamVAC = true on the server that I am creating?

I have looked through the settings and there is no way to turn it off as well. May I know is the Project Zomboid actually steamVAC protected?

If you run a server through Steam, I can only assume it uses SteamVAC, how exactly it works, I’m not sure. I can see being banned from individual servers but not a full blown SteamVAC ban, unless it was something really egregious.

Server admins have no way of Steam VAC banning you if that's your concern.

That option is obsolete, the game does not have VAC at the moment.

But isn't hosting a server is made through Steam? I am a bit confused...so the steamVAC is there but it is actually obsolete?

No, the VAC feature has to be specifically be built into the game to be supported, simply using the Steam server list or their relay is not what automatically gives you VAC support.

tldr; The game does not have VAC, it is stated as such on the store page that it does not have it.
