Desktop screen/ Monitor dark after closing game
The game itself runs fine. No Mods. But every single time I close the game, the monitor brightness is somehow like 50 percent darker than normal despite the brightness dial all the way up. And the only way to fix this is to restart the computer.

Anyway to avoid this? I really want to get into this game but this is really annoying every time I want to close.

AMD should have something similar:

The game itself cannot do that, meaning it is caused by something set up externally, either the monitor color correction messing up when the game is switched off fullscreen or any overlay programs causing issues. I would probably recommend playing the game in borderless mode to see if that helps.

I have the same issue. No monitor software installed.

Same Issue...
I think it has something to do with HDR. After exiting the game I have to go into the HDR settings in the system and re-enable it.

I have the same issue. It doesn't shut off my HDR so I need to re-enable it. I have to go into NVIDIA Control Panel, go down to Display and choose Adjust Desktop Color Settings. #2 Color Accuracy Mode I either select or un-select Override To Reference Mode. That's how I fix it.

Just had the same issue, switched to window mode and HDR on my monitor was super dark, I had to disable and enable HDR

Hi all,

@Beard, it's definitely something caused by running PZ with HDR enabled. As others mentioned, disabling and re-enabling HDR solves the issue, but this shouldn't happen from running PZ in HDR-mode. Other games do not cause this problem.

Edit: I'm using Windows 11 and HDR can be enabled/disabled in the Settings of Windows OS (not PZ) and then going to Display.

Same issue here too, definitely game related.

I know this is old but I was having this issue (just started playing) and I tried windows borderless, still had the darkness issue but playing in windowed mode seems to be the workaround if you don't mind having the open window bar at the top of the screen while you play.

I bought the game today and also experienced this. Had to go into HDR settings and re-enable it when I closed the game.
122 games in my Stream library, 86 in Epic, and stupid amounts elsewhere, and I've never had to start messing with Vulkan/OpenGL settings before. Looking at the dates of the original reports, its not very encouraging.

I would recommend checking my post above, as you have not referenced it in your reply, I have to assume you did not look at it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not have an Nvidia GPU but I will see if where I might find these settings in the AMD Adrenalin software though.

If I cannot at least the windows mode works for now.

That is unfortunate, I do not know if AMD has a similar option at the moment. Regardless this would likely affect all OpenGL games, such as Minecraft for example, since HDR only works right on DirectX or on the DXGI layer that Nvidia offers.

There was a post about it here for more info:

You can try enabling the Triple Buffering option and see if that works?

I gave playing PZ a new shot with the nvidia setting turned on as described in the link you shared. However, the problem still persists. The monitor seems to be switching between darker and lighter mode every few seconds without it being clear what is the trigger between each switch.
