Same world but oldest version of Same character.

So I logged in today to my single player World, and last time before i logged outI was driving near my safehouse, but when I started the game the car wasn't there, so I run to my house to see if it would be there, and yes, the car was there like I've never moved it.

Right after that I realised I had a different backpack, one I used to use before I got the big one, then I also checked my skill levels and they are lower (I know this must be wrong as I've created many lvl 7 rain collectors and my current level it's 6).

Also tried to see if the world was a previous version too but I've installed a few things in my house before I disconnected and everything is there, just my character seems to have gone to back in time.

Any reason for this? How can I fix this? It's not a major issue right now but if it ever happens again and I lose bigger progress, I'd like to know how to fix it.

reckon its possible that thats what broke our saves then, which kinda makes sense since it's only focused on handling data for the player character?

I would recommend you share the mod list and compare it with the others that have the issue, since it is caused by one of them.

My character its reset

Hi. I have a very strange problem. I've been playing my character for a few days now. I have a heavily modded game on the unstable branch of Project Zomboid. That's why I keep backing up my save game files. I wanted to play today but my save got corrupted somehow. My character is back in the starting position, has his stats reset but has some items from the previous game. Deleting the folder and replacing it with yesterday's files doesn't help. Does project zomboid still save game somewhere?

The game only saves in the Zomboid/Saves folder.
Do you have any mods enabled perhaps? Does the issue happen without them as well?

Yes. I wrote that I use many mods. I had no problems with the game, anyway my save file loads, but my character's stats are reset. Some of the items he has are from a different time when I played and not from a previous state of the game. I don't know how it is possible because I even deleted the last save game folder and loaded the previous one (backup) And I still have the same problem even though my save game files are different after all

All my progress disappeared.

Like every morning, I started the game to continue my adventure in Project Zomboid. I was going to play with the longest survivor I had, 3 months, and all of a sudden all my progress is gone and I'm with the same survivor but only with 7 days survived. What the f*ck happened? My game was modded, it had some problems like the gun textures won't load but it never failed to start the game, and now I lost all my progress. I don't understand what happened and I don't know if I can get this world back.

I totally don't understand. I even replace the player.db file from an even earlier save file. And the game still loads my character in the original location with the reset stats and items from the previous save file and from before

Okay, I solved it. It's a bit silly but I didn't know this feature existed. I will show you how I got my world back but I have the game in Spanish, so maybe the words I use won't be the same at the main menu.

If you click on "Load" and choose your world, in my case it was "Bing Jimin", you will see three options at the bottom right corner of the window. You have to click on "More..." or something like that. There, you will have a section that says "Choose Player 1" with a dropdown list. There you will have diferent saves of your player. My last save was the last item of that list. Just click on it and click "Play". If that's not your last save, good luck finding it between all of those items. You will have to check every save you have there.

So what happened to me was that the game decided to choose the first save I had for this survivor. I hope this helped someone with the same problem.

I don't have any mod that saves anything about my character. The problem is that every time I try to load my last game, my character has the same stats as at the beginning of the game. His inventory is mixed up with what he had at the beginning of the game and what he had yesterday. I cannot understand what has changed. I don't have any errors in the log about it. So I'm looking for save files that are responsible for WHERE my character is currently, What Stats my character has, what inventory my character has

Thank you. Interestingly, when I try to load my save, I have multiple characters named MATT in this particular save file. Where does the game save previous characters? Since the only save files are in the project zomboid/save file, how does the game know there are other players? And how come I have about 8 of them there?

Coming back to your question, I don't seem to have any mod that changes inventory. I have mods that add new stuff, or a mod that changes the ui of the inventory but I don't think that's it.
