Disassembling man-made objects

I'm unable to do that. I have the screwdriver in my main inventory or my hands, I have some crates, barrels and doors that I've made. According to PZ wiki it seems like I have all I need to bring up the disassemble option from the rmb menu.
Somehow it doesn't show.
Can anyone please explain why?

I'm playing on builds 27 and 28.

Yes, it is possible to use slegdehammer to destroy them, however it doesn't return any of the materials used. Using screwdriver is supposed to return some of the resources consumed upon the construction. I've searched quite extensively for any information on the dismantling function of the screwdriver or any changes on the subject in recent updates but it came up empty.
I think it used to be possible in earlier builds, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong, or if that function was removed or if it is simply a bug.

In 39.67.5 (Steam) this is broken again. Its not possible to disassemble your own carpentry items. For example stairs or walls.

I have saw and screwdriver in hands .. no menu

im having this on a door in a police station, where its says to deconstruct the door its not red, and i got the hammer and screwdriver in perfect condition but when i click it does a locked door noise like im trying to turn the knob

I believe that only the furniture can be disamntled that way, such as tables and shelves. You'll need to use the sledgehammer to dismantle walls and stairs. For wooden floor, I think it's a crowbar, but that one might be wrong.

I'm pretty sure that to "disassemble", you'll need to unlock the door first, as opposed to "destroy" which doesn't require the door to be unlocked, however does require a sledgehammer.



The disassembling/dismantling/destroy game mechanics are on a long list of things I hope to add a detailed explanation for to the wiki.


EDIT: also, for a thread nearly 4 years old, it might be best to create a new thread... :)
