Transfer local world file/players to a dedicated server?
Hey! I have a world file with my friends that one of them is hosting locally. Is their a way for me to transfer all the world data/players from that local host over to a Dedicated server I already have? If so, how

Move the files from C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid to the server on the same location, the server uses the "servertest" settings name so you might need to specifically copy the settings or the Save folder files to the folders named after that.

Okay so move everything in server folder C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid to the server folder on the new server? And do I copy everything in C:\Users\USERNAME\Zomboid\Saves or from C:\Users\USERNAME\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer

I am currently trying to do the same thing.

I renamed the ini and both lua files to servertest in Username/zomboid/server.
Copied all the map data over from username/zomboid/saves/multiplayer/old to the servertest folder.

Problem I'm having is that instead of using my steam id and showing me my character when i go to join it makes me create a log in for the server and then forces me to create a new char.

Where can i find the char data from the in game host server, and where would i transfer it over so the dedicated server can access it?

Either works fine depending on your settings name, if both your co op name and dedicated server is "servertest" then just moving the whole folder would do the trick.

You either have to join with the exact same username as your Steam name, or edit your name in the player.db file found in the Saves folder.
I see one last question im having trouble getting the server to not run on a Linux server, any instructions on that. I followed the windows server guide and the server is always just not responding

Can you share the server log file?

We wiped the server already but it looked to be a firewall issue. What ports need to be opened and what protocol. I followed the instructions from that steam discussion you've linked but from barely viewing the server logs before we wiped it seemed that no connections were attempted when i tried to join. We are running ubuntu 20.04. Is there any way you can make a guide how to install on ubuntu? Like you did for Windows Server

The guide was in the works but I was not responsible for it, I merely checked it for inaccuracies. On Ubuntu its pretty much the same though, use SteamCMD to install (SteamCMD has an ubuntu guide listed)
Then just launch the game through the server launchs .sh and thats it
