Invalid Username Given
I rented a dedicated server for a handful of friends like 4 days ago. We've all been playing daily, and up until this morning I've had zero issues. I wiped the world last night after everyone agreed upon making some additional changes, and we all logged in without issue. However today I go to login and I am given an 'Invalid username given" error whenever I try to connect. This appears to only be affecting me as I have other players currently connected to the server. I'm not really sure what to do to fix this as googling it hasn't really given me any results other than one regarding a whitelist which we haven't been using and just have the server passworded. I'm the only person with admin access on the server as well, so it's not something anyone else could've done.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? If I drop the first letter of my name in the account username field to a lowercase it will let me in, but it triggers a new user spawn in, so I would assume it's associating the name change with a new account. I can watch the server information in the web console and initially the authorization succeeds but then it tries to login and the authorization fails.

C:\Users\username\Zomboid\db
in there is an sql database.
open it with an sql database editor (DB Browser for SQLite) and find your name and delete the row and save and then when you next login it will recreate your server account and everything should be fine.

since this is on a dedicated i have no idea if you can access this

Do you know if the server side character data will remain by chance, or will it be wiped?

character data is entirely seperate and is tied to the Username of the person. so it will not be wiped.
remember to make backups of any files you modify.

ah I see. I talked to the server hosting company and they said I do have access to the database. So I downloaded the file, opened the database via the DB Browser program you mentioned, deleted the line associated with my account, closing the database and saving the changes. I stopped the server and reuploaded the file, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything.

edit: Ok, I tried it again and made sure to write the changes manually to the database instead of just letting the changes apply when I saved it upon closing and it appears to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
