How can I change the location of the dedicated server settings folders/files?
Hi, I'm running a dedicated server on windows. The game created the server settings in C:\Users\username\Zomboid\Server

Is there a way to change this location to have it on the same drive then where the game server is on? This would make it a lot easier for backup and stuff as I have all my game dedicated servers and its files on a different drive then my OS. For my PZ main server is at F:\Game_Server\Project_Zomboid I would like to have my PZ server settings to also be on the F drive and on on the C drive at C:\Users\username\Zomboid\Server

Add the "-Duser.home=<path>" to your Java parameters and it will change the Zomboid location.

Not sure if I'm messing this up still, but it just won't work, keeps downloading the game to my pc which has almost no storage instead of my external drive.

If you mean the Zomboid folder in ~/Zomboid (C:\Users\NAME\Zomboid) you can also try "-cachedir=<path>"

Otherwise, go to Steam -> settings -> Storage -> Add a new Steam Library to your external/additional storage location. When installing games, it will prompt for a location from the default location, or the extra locations assigned to steam, and you can make a choice for the "default" in the steam settings.

The location may vary, what I referenced may not be the exact same in stable steam client. I'm currently on the new beta.

I have tried this and it is still going back to my C drive. Am I doing something wrong?

It shows that this was answered but perhaps the way I fixed this issue may help.

One of the first steps you do to set up the server is tell SteamCMD where to install the server world files to. Perhaps redoing this step will create a working copy for you.

See the link below namely the "Windows" part (near the top) under the "Downloading the server files" and the "Windows" part (near the bottom) under the "Running the server"
