Check out these two links?
But if the client folder (or server folder) just straight up doesn't have those files, then what? I am subscribing and unsubscribing from the mod, and enabling and disabling it in the game, and the mod won't put those files in the correct folder. What is the action that triggers a mod to put those files in the correct folder so I can do that? I can manually put each and every file where it's supposed to go, but it seems like I shouldn't have to do that (otherwise what's the workshop for?).
To be clear, I'm deleting the .acf file on both the dedicated server, and the client. I unsub from everything on the client, and allow the client to be told by the server to update. The client still won't put the files where they're supposed to be for the mods. The server did with this approach, but the client still refuses to do it.
steps to reproduce
- went to workshop and unsubbed from all mods.
- I completely blew away my entire zomboid install.
- I went into my /path/to/user.home/Zomboid/ and deleted the mods folder
- I went into the /path/to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content and made sure there was no zomboid folder
- I went into /path/to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop and made sure the appworkshop_108600.acf file was not there
- I went into /path/to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/ and made sure the appmanifest_108600.acf file was not there
- I went back into steam and reinstall Project Zomboid
- I connected to the server and verified the server confirmed that there were no mods install on the client, instructing the client to install the mods by selecting the 'install' button
- after waiting for the install of the mods to complete, the client attempts to connect to the server and the game complains that the client is missing files inside of /path/to/Zomboid/media/scripts/vehicles
I'm confused at what is going on here. I attempted to launch a singleplayer game just to see if the mod would decide it wants to work there, and sure enough it did, even though the file still isn't in media/scripts/vehicle folder.
Why does multiplayer requires this file here if singleplayer doesn't? And all the same, what triggers this file to get placed from the workshop folder into the client folder? Because it doesn't seem to be unsubbing/resubbing, or enabling/disabling the mod.
Specifically, the mod it happens to be blowing up on is autosars trailers, though I'm pretty sure that no mod files are ending up in the media folder (though I do have about 15 or so mods, so I am only worrying about the one mod I know the client is breaking on).
Hello yes i was able to fix it, by trying out which mods could cause the problem, for me it was wasteland car and motorcycle mod, after deleting these two mods everything works just fine. But for you it might be some other mod, so even tho it is enoying you can try turning mods by 5 at the same time and eliminate mods which could cause this. Anyway sorry for the late response, had a lot of work lately.
