Here it is:

(I've also tried compatibility mode, but it still doesn't work.)
No I haven't, and to be honest I'm not interested in trying. Getting to the rear of my PC to mess with cables isn't easy, which is why I use the front ports for most USB peripherals. The Rift S is the exception because it's split cable cannot reach both a display port and front USB port at the same time. It has to go in the back. I'm simply not willing to be messing about unplugging my HMD and restarting my PC every time I want to play one game... assuming it even "fixed" the issue to begin with.
Thanks for trying to help, but I guess I'll be shelving PZ until this issue is fixed. It must be the game after all, since no other software I run has an issue like this no matter what I have plugged in.
And yes, I have now tried running the game with ALL USB devices disconnected apart from my mouse and keyboard, and it still won't start. So this problem has nothing to do with XBox controllers (which I don't even own) or my Rift.
Am I ever going to get to play the game I've paid for and supported all this time or what?
Go to your Steam Library > Rightclick Project Zomboid > Properties
In the "Launch Options" copy this exact line:
-Djinput.useDefaultPlugin=false --
After that close the properties and try launching the game again.
I'd give it a try to confirm if it works, but I'm now on the IWBUMS version. Never tried it before because I prefer stable builds, but for whatever reason it doesn't suffer from this bug. Loads fine, runs fine, and after numerous hours I can't go back to the previous build without losing loads of progress and a bunch of new features which I'm now used to having! :p
Anyway, thanks for the response. I'm just happy it's working again, great game.
