Game becomes unplayable because of errors
Every time i start a game a little box in the lower right corner pops up and says "error 1" or "error 2" and the number slowly rises and as it does more graphical problems arise. Skin colors turning a solid bright green or solid black, every wall tile is outlined black, the whole thing just gets darker, the character gets outlined by a box like the walls. So far the game hasnt actually just up and broke but it becomes unplayable and nothing fixes it, ive uninstalled and reinstalled, unsubbed from mods and started new even turned all my mods on in the hopes it would work but nothing fixes it at all. I am in build 41 IWBUMS and had played a little on it and then this started out of nowhere. need help

Do you have any mods enabled?
BoBo Mar 9, 2021 @ 6:19pm
i have enabled and disabled them and tried starting a game each time and the errors still occurs
Beard Mar 10, 2021 @ 1:59am
In that case, try disabling them and then start the game, again. When the errors occur, quit the game and go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid
Open the console.txt
Copy everything from there to https://pastebin.com/
Share the link to the pastebin here.

This will give us the console log so we can check out what the errors are and try to help based on that.

Im really new to pc and have no idea how to get to what youre talking about
Beard Mar 16, 2021 @ 1:54am
You have to navigate to that folder on your computer. I will assume you will have a windows computer:

The "C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid" means that you first have to open your C drive in "This PC", then you find the "Users" folder in that drive and open it.
Next you open the folder that is named after your username that you named yourself when setting up your computer, open up that folder as well.

Lastly, in that folder there should be another "Zomboid" folder, open it as well.
Now in this Zomboid folder there are several files, one of them is named "console"
You have to doubleclick and open that file in a notepad, after that just copy all the text from that file to the pastebin link that I provided after you "Create a paste" on that website.

After you copy all the text, you have to now copy the website link to that new pastebin that you created with the copied info and share the link to it here.

how do i paste it all without hitting the size limit
Beard Mar 17, 2021 @ 3:25am
If for some reason the pastebin hits a size limit, just copy over the first half of the console. SInce the first part is the most important, and then as you get lower you should be able to see the errors just repeating, so as long as the start of the log + the errors are there it should be just fine.

heres the first half link https://pastebin.com/PNS7vzHu
and the second half https://pastebin.com/2wdiGDPh

i dont know what im looking for in terms of errors, computer science is lost on me

Weirdly enough I do not see any errors in that console, the console resets each time you launch the game, so I assume you launched it and didnt get the errors at some point and then shared the console. If you want us to see the errors you will need to share it again after you get the errors to show up.

Other than that, I do see one problem in the console:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Integrated intel graphics have a lot of issues when trying to run build 41 due to them being pretty weak + driver problems, we can only recommend a few fixes to try and make 41 run without problems on these graphics:

1. Make sure your drivers are up to date from the official website
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81499/Intel-HD-Graphics-4000

2. Run the game in 32 bit mode by going to your game folder
Steam Library > Rightclick ProjectZomboid > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files
And running the "ProjectZomboid32.bat"

3. Lower any settings in the options, lower the puddle quality, turn texture compression on etc.

https://pastebin.com/0PaGxmfW first half
https://pastebin.com/FX1f7L4x second half

I started the game up after updating my drivers but still immediately met with the small error box and paused it to copy the console again, im not a complete dingus so i assume the "error:" stuff i saw while copying it is the error stuff you said to watch for and if so there plenty going wrong in the second link.

Hmm, try turning off this specific settings in the options ini:
Go "C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid" and open the "options.ini" file.

In that file, edit the "bMultithreadedRendering=true" line to "bMultithreadedRendering=false"
Save that file and then try starting a new game on a new map to see whether the problem is still there.

where might that be in the console? mid way, toppish, more bottom half? or is it something that could be changed in the settings

16th line from the top. This cannot be change with the in-game options, only through editing the options.ini

the 16th line says LOG : General , 1616357593757> Mobo = [Product=]
I didnt find anything about multithread rendering either but i didnt look too far past line 16
