Game Stuttering and has a lagging feeling to it when playing splitscreen.

Ok, So gonna be real honest haven't done a lot of the pre work yet on this to test out some issues. However from what I see I seem to only have the issue when me and my wife play. What I do is start up the game... runs fine loads fine. she loads up her person. I then proceed to expand the app screen to cover both of my monitors so that both me and my wife have a screen all to ourselves. I then start playing and it runs fine for a while then it just starts doing a slow build up of stutters. I have tried monitoring my resources and none of them seem to be spiking.

I have a Ryzen 5 1600x
16GB of DDR4 Ram at 3000
I have a 1070 GPU
My mobo is new.
I have the game on an ssd.

I dont see my hardware being an issue when I solo play games such as Star Citizen and get up to 40 fps with an unoptimized high end game like that.

Have you tried increasing memory settings for java? By default it's -Xms1024m and
-Xmx1024m. I changed from 1024 to 8192 and it removed my lag/stuttering with mods. More specifically I changed both the 'ProjectZombid64.json' and 'ProjectZomboid64.bat' files in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid' folder. My OS is 64 bit so I changed the 64 bit versions of those files. Recommend making backups before you make any changes though.
