Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Am I missing something?
I'm trying to level my mechanics and I have red mechanics 1 which gives a multiplier of 3 yet when I uninstall and reinstall components I get almost next to nothing for it. What gives? Also what is the point of having a multiplier if it doesn't get you there much faster than you normally would? Am I supposed to be crafting something rather than un/reinstalling car parts?

I am not sure i understand this thread. What level are you in mechanic? You should uninstall and reinstall components one time daily. Also it depends on what multiplier options u choose to play with ect. The exp to next lvl will also be alot higher reach time you lvl up and thus increase the time you need to get to another level. Remember to read the correct level book aswell. Which im sure u already are aware of..

So u cannot keep reinstalling and installing components you need to do one of each daily tho. You won't get exp after u removed example the radio with a screwdriver and reinstall it again. You need to wait 24 hours before u can gain exp again from this.

Oh ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥. I'm done with this game. They seriously expect me to do that from level 0 in mechanics? Also will you for the love of god read things properly. I have read the level 1 skill book why would I have done that if I was higher than level 0?

Oh ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥. I'm done with this game.
I mean you can also just cheat your way to the max level in mechanic and skip that <3<3<3 (;

Debug mode (Cheating) is a modified game state in Project Zomboid. In this mode, the player has access to multiple developer tools which can spawn items, enable various cheats, teleport the player to any destination, and more.

To enable debug mode, add -debug to the game's startup parameters prior to booting the game.

Then after you could save and exsist and remove the debug and play normally again. It can also save you if you are about to die. Just save n exit before u die (if u really want to cheat your way out of a death) (that way u can reload debug mode and potential save your playthough)

So the only way to succeed is to cheat or grind? Yeah that sounds like a barrel of laughs....

That's pretty much it, yeah. The game is very grinding in that terms but then again. You can also boost the multiplier exp in the option menu right before u start a new game. Like to lower the grind. But u need to find the right number which feels good enough for you. If it's too slow atm you should probally increase it by 1.0. Anyway. I been playing since 2013 and it's a great game tbh but the best way to play is for sure with some friends and maybe dl some mods when you feel you played alot or so. Because then the grind not feels so much since u can spread some of the stuff out. (Like one could be the mechanic and that or that, another could focus on leveling this or this. ect) Also keep ind mind that most players dont survive for longer than a couple of days or so and never get really to grind to max levels and so on. You should probally try to ignore the grind and focus on enjoying the experience of survival a fully year or set some other goals.

Why the ♥♥♥♥ did they nerf it and then give you the option to turn it up? Why not just avoid nerfing it to begin with? Do they not understand that not everyone wants to spend an in real life week grinding skills? JFC.

If you set the "day" option to real time thats a no no.. Hopefully you did not set a day to be like in real time.. Because then that's your mistake. (The normal is 1 day in-game is a hour in real life) Anyway other than that i think you should see it as just playing and enjoying the experience you have. Then when you die increase the multiplier a bit so it wont be that grindy. It's just if you survive for a very long time and get maxed out in most of the stuff then you also become bored real fast because you are kinda done with everything. So set small goals and when u completed one set a new goal in your game. Or like i told you play with friends. The best experience u will get. (In my personal view at least if you can get along and play much together)

Ah i get you :steamhappy: Haha. Yeah we could argue that you didn't need any of the levels and becoming better to doing stuff ect. I don't think there is a way to remove all of that other than starting a brand new game and then just cheat you to max level in everything. Then your problem is solved. Edited: Actually you dont have to start over, just do the debug mode thing and give yourself max level in everything.. That should fix your problem. If you do this there is probally some books you want to read aswell to open up everything in the crafting menu. I just can't remember what books you need to read.

I dont mind a little bit of grinding. Ill give you a perfect example of good grinding. CDDA. So If wanted to raise my carpentry skill I would read a book that gave me the theoretical knowledge then I would think I can craft a coat rack from planks and one coatrack gets me 20% of the exp towards level 1. Therefore I know i only have to do this 5 times in order to get to level 1. Thats how its done. Not "make the player repeat the same process 800 times for 5xp but they are only allowed to do it once a day cos....realism".

Yeah i agree. It's just not how pz works and i don't think it ever will. They kinda nerfed it i feel for b42 at least to make it more grindy. But who knows other than them.. I am not the one balacing this game. I think personally i would be great at it. Just in general for many games. Not just this one. But i am not so :D Can't help you any further. Just Hope you will have a good experience in real life tho nothing but <3

you could change the xp multiplyer in the sandbox settings or change them in a current game using debug mode.
BlackCat May 19 @ 5:04pm
Do different vehicles and parts. You get little to no XP for the same vehicle.

Cry about it. Game is 10/10 regardless. You can edit the xp given by stuff in sandbox settings, but I doubt you will like this game if a little bit of grinding is all it takes for you to piss and moan while being outwardly rude to the person trying to help you. Can't wait to see your post complaining about perma death next. Just move on.
Actually, you don't have to level most skills at all.
There are just some minimum requirements to do some stuff, f.e. run a generator at level 3 electrical, but you may also find a magazine and don't need to level it at all, or you just live without electricity.

What you "HAVE" to level up is just prospect in your head, because in "reality" (the game ^^), you don't.

I think the intend you to play the game with a roleplay aspect in your mind.
You want want to do mechanics? Play someone who already is skilled in mechanic. Because thats what a mechanic would do. Use his skills to survive in the apocalypse.
I don't know how others play the game, but when i see someone has maxed out everything in B42, what comes to my mind is that he is either cheating or he made the game very easy. In the rarest cases i believe someone spend years ingame to level all those skills. Because it's boring as frack.
