Bases with a tall fence perimeter
Rosewood has the drive-in theatre with two entrances but a huge perimeter fence

most of the cities have some kind of fenced-in community with the high fences

any rural / farmland areas with the high fence to ward off zombies?

also if i build a tall perimeter fence with one open entrance, will they attack my fence or will they try to get around by the open entrance

I assume the perimeter fence is a log wall? In that case, zombies will break it to get to whatever caught their attention. Zombies tend to go straight for their targets and smash whatever is in the way, even if it is not the quickest way.

I don't recall any of the farmland/rural areas having tall fences.
But there are some places that you can maybe consider in the sticks with tall fence on at least one side of the place.

And I think depending on the distance when you alerted them, the zombies can either navigate towards the opening or attack your wall the same. If you want to cheat, just turn off the setting that allows zombies to attack player construction.

depends on the zombies ability to navigate that you set in world settings. Some are smart enough to open doorknobs and path around stuff if you enable it.
